S crankshaft? Thin second ring allows higher compression? Nice imagination, should be a political speech writer.

The mileage on the car is meaningless. The speedometer had stopped and started and this is the number North Hollywood started it at again after repairing it. They said they couldn't set it to zero. Considering its age I'm sure this car has over 100K miles on it. It has only a 100 or so miles after the complete engine rebuild.

    Fs: 1966 911 #304307

1966 Porsche 911, #304307 (build date 4/66), 2.0L, light ivory over black/houndstooth, wood dash and steering wheel, matching numbers engine and transmission. Restored 2010 thru 2013 to original specs. All engine parts have 1966 date codes; most parts were reused except pistons, which are 1 mm oversize in bored-out original cylinders. Original counter-balanced crank. Later Fuchs wheels that were optional starting a few years later (including spare). Driven about 1000 miles since restoration. About 57,000 total mileage; believed correct based on ownership history and condition of trans, etc. I am third owner (not counting friend who found car and quickly sold to me). Correct tool kit purchased 3 years ago at Porsche Lit meet in LA. MSD ignition triggered with stock points. New SSI exhaust headers/heat exchangers. Original radio restored by Blaupunkt, though on-off switch on radio doesn’t work; not easily replaced or even available (per Blaupunkt), so radio is on when fuse connected. Webasto heater restored and fan works, but has not been operated with gasoline. Chrome parts in generally excellent condition and were reused as-is; no pits except few on door handles only. Aluminum trim on front and rear glass and bumpers all new; all new rubber parts. Optional rear seat delete unit that provides a shelf above rear seats and small doors to store items underneath. Some rusted areas in sills and front pan all replaced; still has original rust-free floor boards. Pedal cluster rebuilt with bronze bushings. Replacement gear-drive starter; original restored starter included.

More details of the car’s condition and its restoration in the photo gallery.

Professionally appraised in May 2016 at $230,000. My "buy-it-now" price $215,000, to avoid hassle of auction.
    NEW PRICE: $195,000.

Needs nothing to be usable. Optional details to fix:
Un-chrome or replace chromed air cleaner assembly.
Drill hole and install antenna in fender.
Find original-style battery box and cover.
For period-correct look, replace Fuchs wheels with original-style steel wheels.
Passenger sun visor; original has hole chewed by mice on top side, patched with some original-syle material. (New replacement visors aren’t correct material or color.)
Replace thin nylon or plastic seals in heater valve flaps, reassemble, and install original heater valves. (Later-style replacement valves are installed now).
Install vinyl on doors of rear seat delete unit.

    DeLuxers and others,

Some hype in the write-up for sure. Maybe now we can find the damn thing ! "RS Ex. 13/66 the Rundschreiben pertaining to the 13/66 bulletin instructing the factory technician" It was not a factory technician bulletin as far was we know but a retro-active sales/marketing piece. But lets find it !!! Thanks.

    Kardex

    German deLuxers,

Please help with this Kardex for the subject car. Sunroof is not listed in print but this Kardex has unusual, added, "options" or notes in writing. We note that this is they Stuttgart dealer, Hahn, in the factory's back yard, so to speak. and so modifications probably were more likely. German sharp-eyed, please help with the German as it is beyond "Google translate," or our rudimentary German. Vielen Dank !

Allen, there is written that the sunroof will be installed afterwards by Golde, than followed by Golde location, date and names of those involved. Very difficult 'old school' handwriting, but for sure it mentions the sunroof to be installed by Golde.

Thanks Henk ! Interesting. I wonder if what appear to be hole(s) at the top outside edge of the engine lid opening are the sunroof drains? Normally, they are not there but slots below the drip rails. BTW, this car, painted yellow, was for sale at Wholesale California Inc. for several months.
