Seller's Description:
Beautiful 1965 911 in black with red leather interior. One owner for the last 29 years. Always maintained and garaged, used only on sunny days in the spring, summer and fall. Car runs like new with rebuilt mechanicals, brakes and suspension. Bare metal repaint on a rust free body in 2012 with all new rubber and deco moldings, new leather interior in 2013. Car has newly plated brass 4 hole horn grills, lower window trim and newly plated original steel ¼ window moldings . This car has the rare original wood dash and steering wheel. The engine currently in the car is a completely rebuilt 1970 2.2 E engine with only 25,000 miles over the last 21 years. It has Weber carbs and runs like new. A 1965 engine case and most associated parts minus the rotating assembly and tin come with the car. I also have the original headlights. This car is the crown jewel of my collection and is now available for a new owner. 300 series 911’s with the rare early parts in this condition are almost impossible to find. This is Porsche driving in its most pure form. Will possibly take an excellent ‘80s non sunroof 911 as part trade.

Auction Description:
*Award winning restoration and matching numbers
*Desirable, early matching-numbers 911
*Beautifully restored inside and out
*Clean and classic Porsche design spritely sprite performance and excellent handling
*Offered with Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, tools, jack and restoration photos
According to the Porsche-issued Certificate of Authenticity, this 911 was built as a 1966 model year, and completed at the Zuffenhausen-based Porsche factory in April of 1966. It was finished in nearly the same color combination it wears today, 6604 Light Ivory over a black leatherette interior. The new 911 was completed with a long list of optional equipment, a Webasto heater, left hand exterior mirror, and the Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio with loudspeaker and antenna.
The Porsche is believed to have been sold new in New Mexico, and have had just three owners before being purchased by the consignor some years ago. Between 2009 and 2013, the early 911 was treated to a comprehensive restoration. The exterior was stripped to bare metal, the necessary rust work performed, and elegantly finished light ivory while the exterior trim, seals and gaskets were replaced or refurbished as necessary, yet keeping as many original parts as possible. A new black interior was installed, with the seats neatly accented by houndstooth inserts. The wood-paneled dash and steering wheel was refurbished as well, as was the period Blaupunkt radio. The matching-numbers engine and transmission was gone through, and an MSD-triggered ignition system was installed with stock points. A new SSI exhaust system was fitted, and the optional Webasto heater was restored, although it has not been operated with gasoline yet. The Porsche retains the original cast iron weights in the front bumper corners, originally installed by dealers to improve the handling of the early short wheelbase cars.
This early 911 has been driven less than 1,000 miles since the restoration work was performed, and the current odometer reading of less than 58,000 miles is in fact believed to be the car's original mileage. The Porsche is offered with the Certificate of Authenticity, restoration photos, a correct tool kit and jack, and features the optional rear seat delete unit that provides a great package shelf. A matching-numbers example presented on correct type silver-painted steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and shod on Vredestein Classic tires, this early 911 Coupe looks just right.

Auction Description:
This 1967 Porsche 911 has 90k miles and is a two-owner example powered by its matching numbers 2.0 liter flat-six and 5-speed manual gearbox. Evidence of a repaint in the original Irish Green is present, though the brown leatherette interior appears to be mostly original. The car was purchased in Rome, New York with 8k miles by the second owner, who kept it registered and inspected from 1968 until 1990. The seller acquired the car in 2015 and performed a major service to make it roadworthy. Work included a replacement fuel tank, new shocks, lower ball joints, shock mounts, brake overhaul, shifter assembly rebuild, tune-up, and new Pirelli tires. This short-wheelbase 911 is being offered by the selling dealer with extensive documentation, a factory tool kit, and a clean New York state transferable registration.
The Irish Green (6606) exterior received a repaint at some point in the past, and paint meter readings taken from over 20 places indicate thickness between 8-10 mils. The owner describes the paint as presentable with some orange peel and overspray around the fender wells and engine compartment. Records show that the left front fender was replaced because of a dent, though the repair bill notes that the unibody was not damaged. Most of the window and body trim appear to be original, and some pitting is evident on the horn grills.
The brown leatherette interior shows some discoloration on the lower half of the seats, while some separation around the top seam on the driver’s side is also present. The pedal cluster was re-bushed and overhauled by the seller, as was the shifter assembly. Both the driver’s and passenger’s roll-up windows are said to move freely, and the original Talbot rear-view mirror is present. The headliner and original sun-visors look to be well preserved. The brushed aluminum dash fascia looks to be straight, and the 911 glove box insignia is still present. 1967 was the last year for the green lettered gauges, and on this car the clock is currently inoperable, though the remaining 4 gauges are all said to work properly. The original Becker Mexico radio remains in the dash, but the antennae appears to missing its mast.
The factory solid rotors have been changed to vented rotors and appropriate calipers. The seller went through the brake system, installing a new master cylinder, pads, and hoses. The front axles were also rebuilt and new lower ball joints have been installed. Rear shocks and front strut inserts have been replaced, along with the shock mounts. The 15″ steel wheels wear new Pirelli Cinturato reproduction tires. Included with the sale is a notebook filled with mileage and recorded fuel consumption going all the way back to 1968, and the seller has kept up recording in this notebook since acquiring the car. Service documents show that the previous owner maintained the car diligently.
The original 901/06 case appears to wear later model cast iron barrels and a compression test performed by the seller in 2014 indicated a 140 psi across all cylinders. Some smoke is present on start-up, though the seller indicates that it quickly clears-up. An aftermarket Delta Products ignition module is fastened to the firewall but is not hooked up, and a fresh set of points and a condenser were recently installed. The motor retains its original style cam chain tensioner, and the original finned style lower valve covers are also present. The seller indicates that the rear portion of the engine bay was repainted and new stickers have been applied. Engine #911216 is confirmed as original by the CoA. Receipts indicate that in 1968 with only 8k miles, the second owner had the undercarriage sprayed with Zeitbart rust preventive treatment. Over the past 48 years some rust has developed on the undercarriage, with spots present on the floor. An overhaul of the fuel system included the installation of a replacement fuel tank.
The original 5-speed transaxle is stamped #130900 and is verified as original by the CoA. Aftermarket heat exchangers were installed at some point in the past. Indicated by ‘911~~S 66’ on the front vin-tag, the original Webasto auxiliary blower is located in the front compartment and operational. The seller went through the heating system, ensuring that the heater boxes, cables, and moving parts operate freely. The 1968 bill of sale from McLoughlin Motors in Rome, New York to the second owner is shown above. Included with the sale is the original owner’s booklet containing, original driver’s manual, factory tool kit, extensive service records from 1967 to 1990, aforementioned logbook, and a spare Delta Products CD ignition module in the original packaging.

Auction Description:
1968 US version 911, #241 out of only 387 made at the main Porsche factory for 1968. It has a factory installed electric sunroof which is something only 10% of the production came with back in the day (as opposed to the later cars that all seemed to have them)!
I have put about 50k miles on the car in the 11 years I have had it back. However, it only has around 22k miles on a fully rebuilt engine and around 7k miles on the rebuilt gearbox. Both the engine and gearbox were rebuilt by Rich Lambert of Lambert Racing Engines of Fort Worth.
Everything else on the car was done by me… starting with taking a basic shell and building it up into a running driving car; all of this in only eight weeks. I was motivated definitely to start driving this car again!
In addition to every receipt for all the parts and sublet since 1996, I also have the Texas certified title search and the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, along with original factory warranty booklet, owner’s manual, a complete tool kit and the jack.
I bought this car the first time in late ’76 when I was 19 years old from Forest Lane Porsche-Audi in Dallas, Texas. I think I paid $4800 for the car and traded in a ’71 Porsche 914. It is a ’68 911 with factory electric sunroof- a rare option back in the ’60s. It also had alloy wheels and Koni shocks, but was otherwise a standard 911 normal coupe. The original color was Polo red, but had been repainted white by a previous owner.
The factory maintenance record shows the original owner was Dr. Daniel Adams of San Francisco, California who purchased the car on 12-27-67 from Porsche dealer Carl R. Carlsen VW in San Francisco. It shows the first service at 319 miles was performed at Carl R. Carlsen VW on 1-18-68 and the next one at 3325 miles on 9-19-68. From there the service was performed at Circle Motors VW in Long Beach, California on 5-15-69 at 6130 miles. Greff Motors in Metairie, Louisiana did the 6k mile services on 3-20-70 at 11999 miles and again on 8-30-70 at 18001 miles. I called Greff Motors to see if they remembered the car and spoke with a former employee who was visiting the shop that still knows the first owner, Dr. Dan Adams. He said Dan, who is currently an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist in Atlanta, sold the car in 1970 to purchase a new 911E Targa. My first entry in the service record was on 12-29-76 at 27,124 miles and the last on 6-10-78 at 44871.
In the time I owned the car, I disassembled it, had it sandblasted to bare metal and repainted in the original Polo red by Euless Paint & Body in Euless, Texas.
The engine was replaced with a 2.2 liter 911S #6301220 that was rebuilt by Vernon Clements at POR-SHA in Euless, Texas. If you’re not familiar with POR-SHA, the owners were Al Zim and Ed Mayo. Al now owns Zim’s Autotechnik in Bedford, Texas. Ed is at Mayo Performance in Euless, Texas and is a member of RGruppe, Early 911S Registry and PCA.
I sold the car to Dr. Roger Blair of Fort Worth, Texas in 1978 who owned it until the mid-90s. Ronald Moseley of DeSoto, Texas was the next owner according to the title search paperwork, which is included in the sale along with all the documentation and every receipt since 1995..
We had a Bosch alignment rack at a shop I was working at that we weren’t using so I sold it in November 2005 to Jim Buckley of Fort Worth, Texas who owns Buckley Racing, a vintage Porsche race preparation shop.
We were standing around talking about old Porsches when he came to pick the rack up in December and he said he had recently bought a ’68 911 sunroof coupe out of Arkansas that had factory sport seats and a 2.2 S engine in it. He bought it from Nat Bothwell who had started restoring the car, but sold it due to a new home purchase.
I told him I had a car exactly like that back in the ’70s and would it be for sale if it were my old car. Being a complete Gearhead, I remembered the VIN after all these years and it turned out to be the same car! He bought the car for the sport seats and the S engine, which were already sold, but did want to sell the rest.
I was excited to see that the car was already painted and that the suspension was completely rebuilt. It came with a lot of new parts including an Autos International rebuilt dashboard, upper door caps and carpet set just for starters. Jim included a set of standard seats from a Euro ’68 911S and I found a complete used 914-6 engine from Al Zim the next day.
We struck a deal and the collection of car and parts were sent over to the shop in Dallas for the project to begin on Dec. 22, 2005. it took me about eight weeks to fully reassemble the car, but I drove it home on Friday, Feb. 24 and had it aligned on Saturday. It’s was my daily driver again after all these years!
By an amazing stroke of luck, the original engine was reunited with the car. In October of 2008 I ran into Brandon Hale who I had sold the original engine to back in the 70s when I put the 2.2 liter 911S engine in my car. Brandon was at Mayo Performance inquiring about putting a bigger motor in his car and said he would sell me back my motor.
I had Rich Lambert of Lambert Racing Engines in Fort Wort Worth, Texas go through the engine completely and it went back in the car in December 2009. So the car was finally back to matching numbers all the way around as I already had the original gearbox.
This car has truly been a labor of love and comes with the factory tool kit, maintenance record, owner’s manual, Certificate of Authenticity and hundreds of receipts for parts, labor and subcontract work. All the body panels except the engine lid are original to the car. It has all the correct 1968 items except for the side reflectors. It just turned over 129k miles which is fully documented and is in truly outstanding mechanical and cosmetic condition with the exception of the paint. Although the paint looks good from about 10 feet, it is an amateur paint job.
