Auction Description:
•Delivered new in Germany
•Fully matching numbers and colours
•Extensively restored in 2014
•Eligible for numerous prestigious events
This particular 911 is one of the early, short-wheelbase cars of the type much favoured by the historic rallying fraternity, a situation that has led to original examples such as this one becoming a great rarity. Chassis number '305518' was delivered new in Germany on 22nd August 1966, and the following year was exported to the USA. The current vendor purchased the Porsche on 21st August 2014 at the Aston Martin dealership in Chicago. The 911 was green when acquired, so the vendor decided to restore the car to its original colour scheme of Light Ivory with black leatherette/Pepita (pumpkin) cloth interior. These works had been completed in summer 2015, together with servicing of the engine and overhauling the gearbox. A real driver's car, ready to compete at any suitable event, this rare and desirable early Porsche 911 is offered with its 846A form (taxes paid), FFVE document, sundry invoices, contrôle technique, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and Porsche letter confirming the build details.

305518 apparently unsold at the Chantilly auction.
Trend continuing downwards with upper bid not reaching the reserve price...

Auction Description:
This Solid Tangerine, left-hand drive, matching numbers example was manufactured in 1968 for the US market and was, therefore, one of the last cars built on the original wheelbase before the LWB 'B-series' cars were introduced later that year. ‘118-3-0137’ was supplied new on the 9th February 1968 to Colonel Rob Rodden of Carmel, Monterey. He owned the car for some 35 years and clearly applied military standards of discipline when it came to maintaining his beloved Porsche. Indeed, the very impressive service history accompanying the car shows a considerable number of service entries under his ownership. When the Colonel sadly passed away his son, Rob Jnr., felt it appropriate to part with the Porsche and there is a letter in the history file attesting to this.
A later owner sympathetically restored the 911 in 2005 and the Porsche subsequently arrived in the UK in 2010 when a Mr. Sillitoe became its latest owner. There is documentation in the history file from Porsche Cars GB confirming the original 'matching numbers' that the car retains today. Our vendor purchased the car in 2014 and it has formed part of his significant private collection ever since, always dry stored and well cared for. Indeed, this actual car was used for a six-page feature in 2014 in 'Total 911' magazine's guide to buying an early 911 and was their front cover car.
This car also benefits from the optional and desirable factory-fitted, 5-speed gearbox and 15” Fuchs alloy wheels. The very impressive history file contains the original handbook, service book and wallet, a variety of invoices, the service stamps from new, spare keys, and a fresh MOT Certificate. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an early short wheelbase A-Series car that has been expertly maintained and lovingly cared for throughout its life.

Highly Desired Early "Wood Dash" SWB 911
Numbers-Matching Engine, Transmission & Colors

Beautifully Presented 911 with Recent Engine Out Service
Complete with Original Driver's Manual, Tool Roll & Jack
With a continuous production run of over 50 years, the Porsche 911 has developed, evolved, evaded execution, matured and has been transformed in a style that no other automobile has ever experienced. It is an industry phenomenon, and the fascination with this evergreen sports car is still capturing new fans today as much as it did after its public unveiling in 1963.
302811 was completed November 22, 1965 and sold new at Deet Eichel VW of Modesto, California in Sand Beige paint over Black Leatherette upholstery, equipped with a Webasto heater and Phoenix tires. Several early notations of services performed are recorded on the vehicle's Kardex, with Porsche Car Pacific, Burlingame is recorded as the handler. It's believed the 911 spent the majority of its life in California and Washington State. In recent years, the Porsche received a “driver's” restoration, the goal was not to produce a concours candidate, but rather a solid and reliable example to drive and casually display at the local cars and coffee and club events. The resulting car is just that. A great looking “wood dash” 911 capable of many more years of driving enjoyment. In August 2017, a thorough mechanical service was commissioned for 302811, inspecting and freshening all systems, including the brakes, suspension, exhaust and intake. The 911 retains its original numbers-matching engine and 5-speed transmission, both in excellent working order with solid compression from the fully-rebuilt 2.0 liter powerplant.
Verified by its Porsche Factory Kardex and Certificate of Authenticity, the car is also complete with an original Driver's Manual, jack and tool kit. A recent surge of appreciation for 1964/5/6 "Wood Dash" 911s has been well deserved, and this late 1965 humbly displays the model in its purest form. Porsche's one-millionth 911 even celebrates early design with tributing finishes on its special edition car. 302811 is now available for Worldwide purchase and delivery from our Houston, Texas showroom, to learn more about this vehicle, please contact our sales department at (281) 497-1000 or sales@driversource.com. *please note this car is titled as a 1966

It's advertised as matching numbers. Engine # 902929 should have had center-lubricated camshafts and Solex carburetors. That chain housing shows neither a center-lubricated camshaft nor the block-off plate for the dual fuel pump.
Had houndstooth seat inserts been ordered for this car they would have been black and white not black-tan-white. It would have had the leatherette rims around the back seats but those are less than half the height of any I've seen.
