    BaT Description:

This 1967 Porsche 911 was acquired as a non-running project by the seller four years ago. Since that time, the car has been refinished in its factory-delivered Bahama Yellow, the cabin has been refreshed in black leatherette upholstery with Pepita-style inserts, and the flat-six has been rebuilt to displace 2.2 liters. Other equipment includes a five-speed manual gearbox, Fuchs wheels, fold-down rear seats, and a period Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. The seller has added approximately 2k miles, and the oil was changed and the tires rotated in May 2020. This 911 coupe is now offered with the seller’s receipts, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean California title in the seller’s name. The car was delivered new in Bahama Yellow (6605), and approximately four years ago it reportedly was taken to bare metal before being refinished. The paintwork and exterior trim are shown in detail in the photo gallery. Silver and black 14″ Fuchs wheels are mounted with 185/65 Pirelli tires, which were rotated in preparation for the sale. The seller states that the suspension has been overhauled and various components were powder-coated and re-plated.

The car was delivered new with a black leatherette interior with Pepita cloth inserts (B/P), and the cabin was refreshed in early 2020 with replacement seat covers and more. The peppered gray carpeting is protected by matching floor mats, and a period Blaupunkt AM/FM radio is installed in the factory location. The four-spoke steering wheel wears a debossed Porsche crest and sits ahead of green-letter VDO instrumentation. The five-digit odometer shows 40k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added during current ownership; true mileage is unknown.

The flat-six was rebuilt to displace 2.2 liters and sends power to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. The seller states that the carburetors have been rebuilt, and the oil was changed in May 2020. A number of service records are provided. The engine-case stamping reads ☆911214☆ and matches the number shown on the accompanying Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the production date, original colors, powertrain numbers, and factory-delivered options.

    Auction Description:

We are pleased to present this 1965 Porsche 911 finished in Irish Green over a black leatherette interior. Marking the first full production year of the Porsche 911, this early number’s matching Coupe is one of only 235 examples produced for 1965. Utilizing new-old-stock Porsche replacement parts, this 911 has undergone some considerable cosmetic refurbishment as well as a recent full interior restoration. This 911 was also recently subjected to a full mechanical service in order to bring it up to top running condition. Showing just over 45k miles on the odometer and offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this rare and finely restored 1965 Coupe makes the perfect addition to any collection.

This 911 is said to have been completely refinished in its original specified color of Irish Green during previous ownership. The the seller indicates the front trunk pan was replaced to exacting factory standards last year. During this time, half of the car was also professionally blended to provide for a high-quality finish. The exterior trim has been restored and this 911 is said to present beautifully (a collection of detailed images is provided in the photo gallery). This early 1965 example can be identified by its gold colored 911 rear model designation which is mounted at an angle next to the “PORSCHE” lettering. This 911 rides on its original steel wheels with chrome center caps and period correct Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.

The cabin has been recently fully restored in its correct black leatherette upholstery. Details include basket-weave leatherette seats, new salt and pepper lightweight carpeting, black door panels and distinctive dashboard trim in a natural wood finish. This 911 retains its early-style green-faced instruments, a four-spoke sports steering wheel, the original headliner and a period-correct AMCO walnut shift knob. The seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly.

This 911 carries its original air cooled 2.0 L flat-six engine which is equipped with dual Weber triple choke 40 ID carburetors. 130 HP is delivered to the rear wheels by way of a number’s matching Type 901 5-speed manual transmission. The engine is said to have been fully rebuilt under previous ownership about 10 years ago, and the seller notes that a recent full service was performed to bring the car up to excellent driving standards.

The sale of this highly sought after 1965 911 will include one key and some restoration records. For any dedicated Porsche collector, this early model 911 represents a very special opportunity.

    Dealer Description:

Matching numbers early ’67 SWB coupe.

This 911 can be enjoyed as it is or brought to a higher level with some straightforward work. Very seldom do we see these which have not been apart and restored, or feature so many original details. Although repainted 27 years ago in the current colour, it could easily go back to the original Slate grey. Significantly, it had one owner for about 25 years, and he gives an interesting account of his 911 that supports the originality.

The body has good panel gaps, (the panels look to be original). It has the correct 3 screw door frames, glass, lenses and looks like original brightwork. The hard to get details on this long term owner car are very good. The wheels are all dated 1966 with the wire clips supporting the valves in place. The clocks and lovely wood rim steering wheel also appear to be original. The motor is numbers matching, performs well, idles cleanly and goes very well with a great sounding and rare Bursch exhaust. There have been some limited repairs to the underside, none of which cause any major concerns.

Originally supplied in February 1967 by Porsche Cars Pacific, Burlingame, California, it was optioned in Slate grey (6601) with black leatherette and chromed wheels.

This 911 has spent it’s life in the US and Canada, it has only recently arrived in the UK from Texas.

    Auction Description:

    - A desirable early example of an enduring icon
    - Wonderful Aga Blue over Beige interior
    - Numbers-matching engine and transmission
    - Includes a copy of its factory Kardex and Porsche Production Specifications certificate
    - Beautifully restored interior

This 911 was completed on 29 October 1965, departing the factory in the very elegant combination of Aga Blue over a Beige leatherette interior. The cockpit is highlighted by a warm wood veneer dashboard insert and wood-rimmed steering wheel with “Butterfly” horn button. It was modestly optioned with a Webasto gasoline heater, tinted glass all around, and a radio antenna kit. A Blaupunkt multi-band radio and speaker were installed, along with a pair of fog lamps and a full set of factory chromed steel wheels bearing a manufacturing date of April 1964.

A previous owner acquired this largely original 911 many years ago from a family in the Charleston, South Carolina area; an electric fuel pump and electronic ignition system were added to this chassis at that time. Although its earlier history is unknown, it is a well preserved example.

This desirable early 911 retains its original sheet metal, glass, and all lighting assemblies, while the paint and brightwork appear to be in highly presentable condition. Rarely exhibited, this chassis notably claimed a much-desired “Palmetto” Award at the 2018 Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance and Motoring Festival.

Fresh off this successful exhibition, the previous owner commissioned Gronbach Interiors of Gainesville, Florida, to replace the original upholstery with new cream Spinneybeck leather. New grey-blue German square-weave carpeting from Porsche interior specialists Autos International of Escondido, California was installed throughout, along with a new headliner. The consignor has added just short of sixty miles to this fine and early Porsche since acquisition in 2019.

This very attractive short-wheelbase 911 is supplied with a correct spare wheel, spare seats, owner’s manual, and a copies of the factory Kardex and Porsche Production Specification certificate confirming its matching-numbers engine and transmission as well as the original color combination of Aga Blue over Beige leatherette. It has been recently serviced and is ready to provide its next owner many more miles of driving enjoyment.
