    Auction Description:

    * Early '0-Programme' short-wheelbase model
    * Present ownership since 2004
    * Used sparingly
    * Maintained by a Porsche specialist in Barcelona
    * Registered in Spain

    This particular 911 is one of the early, short-wheelbase cars of the type much favoured by the historic rallying fraternity, a situation that has led to original examples such as this one becoming a great rarity. It belongs to the '0-Programme' series built from the start of production in August 1964 up to the introduction of the 'A-Programme' model in August 1967, and thus represents the Porsche 911 in its earliest and purest form. The current vendor purchased the car directly from the first owner in California and imported it into Spain that same year. Registered in Spain in 2005, the Porsche has seen little use since then: only a few trips to motor shows such as Auto Retro Barcelona and Espirit di Montjuich. Maintained by a Porsche specialist in Barcelona, the car has a valid technical control and is described by the private vendor as in generally very good condition, having been repainted 10 years ago while retaining its original interior. This collectible '0-Programme' Porsche 911 comes complete with its original tool kit.

    BaT Description:

    This 1965 Porsche 911 coupe is finished in black over black leatherette and was completed on October 25, 1965. The car was sold new to a Mr. Wechsler of Monticello, New York and reportedly spent time in Rhode Island before being brought to Canada by the selling dealer in 2016. Power is provided by a numbers-matching 2.0-liter flat-six paired with a Type 902 five-speed manual transaxle, and the vehicle came equipped from the factory with an electric sunroof and a Blaupunkt radio. This early 911 is now being offered for sale with a copy of the Kardex, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, some service records, and Ontario registration.

    Schwarz (6609) is the factory color according to the Kardex report, and a single-stage repaint was reportedly performed at some point in the past. Equipment includes gold rear badging, chrome bumperettes, Hella sealed-beam headlight housings, a collapsible antenna, chrome lower rocker trim, and early four-screw horn grilles. Finish flaws are captured up close in the 10-minute walk-around video presented below.

    15×6” Fuchs wheels from the 1970s feature colored Porsche crest center caps and wear 205/60 Sumitomo HTR 200 tires. The Karosserie tag located in the driver’s door jamb. Black leatherette seats are joined by salt-and-pepper squareweave carpeting, black rubber floor mats, and wood veneer dash trim. An electric sunroof and a Blaupunkt radio were factory options along with a Webasto gas heater, though the latter has been removed. A wood four-spoke steering wheel fronts green VDO gauges, including a tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline and a 150-mph speedometer. Just over 18k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, though total mileage is unknown.

    The 2.0L flat-six features dual Solex carburetors and was factory-rated for 130 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 140 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 902/1 five-speed manual transaxle. According to the seller, a 911S engine was previously fitted in the car prior to 2016. Receipts from work performed between 2016 and 2018 are provided in the gallery, along with the results of a compression test. Stamping *902824* matches the number listed on the CoA and Kardex, confirming the engine as original.

    Replacement floors have been installed. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the factory colors and powertrain numbers. A copy of the Kardex is provided.

    PCAR Description:

    We are pleased to present this rare 1966 Porsche 911 Sunroof Coupe finished in Sand Beige over a black interior. Highlighting a recent complete rotisserie restoration, this 911 has been driven only 300 test miles since. Presenting itself as it would rolling off of the showroom floor, this numbers-matching 911 Coupe makes the perfect addition to any collection. This 911 is said to have been professionally stripped down to bare metal and refinished in its factory original color of Glasurit Sand Beige (6607). Additionally, all seals have been replaced and all metal trim has either been replaced or refinished to a high standard. Noteworthy Details include a factory electric sunroof and a set of chrome ventilated wheels that come wrapped in Vredestein tires.

    Inside, you will find a complete restored black leather interior. This interior highlights an entirely new set of correct German carpets, new headliner, re-wrapped dashboard, refinished seats and a refinished period correct leather steering wheel. Additionally, all gauges were rebuilt by Palo Alto speedometer and the wood dashboard panel was restored by Madera Concepts. All in all, this period-correct interior presents very well and all components and electrical systems are in great working order.

    Power comes from a numbers-matching 2-liter flat-six engine that is connected to a 902 5-speed manual transmission. This iconic power plant has been fully rebuilt by Rich Jacksic and only bears approximately 300 miles of use. Additionally, the entire braking and suspension systems have been completely overhauled. This car is said to perform absolutely brilliantly and drives the way it was originally intended.

    This is a rare, highly original and mechanically sound 911. Included in the sale are all records and documentation concerning its restoration as well as the original books, service manual, jack, tools and spare. A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity will also be provided. Do not miss this rare opportunity to own this superb and highly collectible 1966 Porsche 911.

    Somewhere along the line, I have come to misunderstand the term "highly original".

    So much time and money spent on that one but it falls flat on so many details like the tool kit and dash speaker holes. Those resto-all shops need to consult specialists to turn out a quality product.

    I agree. Plus with the premium that a sunroof can command, one would think they would get that right. Where is the air dam/deflector? Or is this rare air dam delete?

    I am not one to sugar coat bad restorations, let me talk about the restorer of this car - Aventura Motors in Southampton NY - this shop gets my vote for the worst continuous restoration work in the country. I can talk for hours of how they are Porsche rapists that turn and burn expensive models with zero regard to quality and they have zero integrity. Their cars are the worst, if you can’t see it then it wasn’t touched. I have done pre purchased inspections on 2 of their cars and I can not begin to describe how terrible the paint, interior, craftsmanship is. DO NOT BUY ANY CAR FROM AVENTURA MOTORS!!!!

The interior has been completely restored and only original materials have been used. The car is in absolute driving condition and every detail is exactly as it was delivered in 1965. The complete restoration and inspection are well documented.
