This 1968 car (11835367) is a beautiful example of a hot rodded SWB 911 that has been carefully sorted over the years to be the ultimate back road driver. When reconditioning began, the car was taken down to bare metal and the finicky heater channels in the rocker panels were replaced. The whole body was then sprayed with 2 layers of epoxy primer before being painted in the factory correct Light Ivory- but this time in a base+clear coat for extra shine and durability, by local shop DG Vintage Coachworks. While the car was apart, a new headliner was installed, a full gasket kit from Sierra Madre was installed and the chrome was cleaned before being reinstalled. The interior has stayed largely stock but an RS Lightweight square weave carpet kit was installed and the upholstery has been refurbished and looks nearly flawless.

The mechanical side is where this car truly shines- the numbers matching 2.0-liter Flat-6 was fully rebuilt by well known Pacific Northwest engine builder Jeff Hines with a mixture of all the best bits available at the time. Starting with a numbers matching block, the engine was rebuilt with 911E cams, 911S pistons and every bearing, seal and timing chain with oil-fed tensioners have been replaced. Additionally, a set of PMO carburetors sit on top of the engine and an RSR fan shroud sits between them. The steering system has been rebuilt along with the shift linkage and the whole braking system has been either replaced or fully gone through. The suspension was also completely refurbished with Rennline bushings in the rear, a set of Koni shocks and the entire car has been lowered and looks great sitting on a set of 14" Fuchs. Both the clutch and throwout bearing have been replaced and the heat exchangers have been upgraded to stainless steel. The final sorting was completed by Chris's German Auto in Redmond, WA in late 2019. This is the ultimate example of a Short Wheel Base 911 that has been thoroughly tweaked to be a perfect driver that would be the perfect addition to any collection.

I ended up buying this ‘68.

Long story short, it’s a full rebuild but it was never shaken out and the PO made some interesting choices with the shops that rebuilt it, like refreshing the entire front suspension but reinstalling blown strut inserts…

Lots of sweat equity on this one, but it will turn out how I want it.

Diving into the deep end with my first air cooled car at 32!

Congrats on the purchase Matt. Almost every car i have bought has needed something or other, if only because i wasn’t a huge fan of every choice made by PO’s, but at least the major things were done properly. Hopefully paint/body/lack of rust/engine/interior stuff are properly done, which can be expensive. What a marvelous age to be enjoying a wonderful car …welcome to the fraternity 😁

    Le mans classic artcurial sale.

300401 but with a serious chassis problem.... we can clearly see a 68 chassis with 11810463 VIN on the door production plate...

November 2017 - Sold for €195,000 at Race Cars Direct

    Artcurial 65 911 1.jpg

    - Belgian title
    - Chassis No: 300401
    - Early 911, dating from 1965
    - Fully rebuilt engine (€30,000 invoice)
    - Eligible for the 2.0L Cup and the Tour Auto!

As stated on its Porsche certificate, this particular 911 left the factory in February 1965. It was in ivory colour (Hellefenbein 6404) and had a Pepita interior. It was sold new via the Swiss distributor AMAG. It was in the same country in Lausanne that the previous owner, a Belgian collector, found the car in the mid-1990s, at the time when it needed a full restoration.
The latter then proceeded to a full preparation so he could participate in historic racing events. With a good know-how in racing cars, he developed a high-performance and reliable car. Included in the file are various preparation and servicing invoices since 2008. The car is prepared at Gerard de Ville de Goyet and then at Technique Historique SPRL in Loverval. Our collector raced at the 2010 Legend Boucles de Spa as well as other rallies in Belgium. When he renewed the car's FIA passport in 2016, he had a lot of work carried out to improve the car's performance and adapt it to a more specific circuit use.

Having other projects on the go, he decided to sell it in 2019 to one of the most important collectors in Argentina. The latter was looking for a competitive car so he could race in particular in the Tour de France Auto and in 2.0L Cup events of Peter Auto. Racing up to Group B rally cars, this enthusiast is experienced in driving high-performance and sharp cars. He then shipped the car to Italy to prepare it and the engine was completely rebuilt at the Parma specialist Biasetti (€30,000 invoice). The car was then tuned on track and the engine ran for less than five hours. Unfortunately, the pandemic has prevented our collector from taking part in European events, which is why he wishes to part with this vivid and reliable car.

    - Rare 911 from July 1965
    - Matching number
    - An eternal icon

Unveiled at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Porsche 911 (born 901) entered the Motoring Hall of Fame many years ago. Light, placed on narrow tires and displaying a power that makes you smile today (130bhp), this 2.0L version was only produced in 10,273 units, between 1965 and 1967.
Manufactured on July 27, 1965, this Porsche 911 2.0L "Light Ivory" is part of the series of short chassis (SWB), very popular with connoisseurs and recognizable by their access hatches to the torsion bar very close to the wheel passage. Its Porsche certificate of authenticity indicates that it left the factory with Phoenix brand tires and, as an option, all tinted windows and a Webasto heater. This car was restored in the 1980s and fitted with light brown upholstery. After spending many years in California, under the sun of Pasadena, it was purchased by its current owner in 2016 and now has an FFVE certificate and a technical inspection certificate. This connoisseur was won over by its state of preservation and by the fact that the car retained its original 2.0L flat-6.

Indeed, this Porsche 911 2.0L is in a nice original condition: the car underwent an engine, gearbox and front and rear running gear overhaul twenty years ago, the bodywork is in a sound state, although very weathered. With its movable rear quarter windows, its small Durant mirror and its classic wheels, this car offers the possibility to drive an icon which has stood the test of time, or one which could be the base of a cosmetic restoration to achieve an exceptional Porsche 911 in concours condition.
