    Possible Ebay fraud alert

    Beware this car for sale:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=260899146717

This seller has had it posted it on EBay before. Notice the bidder with only four feedback postings since 2003 driving up the price? Actually, this very same car was sold on EBay already to this same shill bidder and feed back was given the very next day for it.

The very same car was for then for sale on Samba by the same seller and after a month or two of not selling, the add was pulled. Now it's back for sale and lo and behold the same shill account is active bidding on it. Funny thing, the bidder already bought it once!

This same bidder has three out of the four feedbacks with the same seller and only comes alive to bid on his auto auctions. It's a shill.

    Be careful out there.

I posted this on the Bird as well. Received two thank you PMs from guys that were tracking the car and were considering buying. I really felt torn about posting about it before I did it but, those two PMs validated my decision.

Seller is a current member of our board which saddens me to no end.

It would take eBay a month to shut it down.

I let eBay Motors know several years ago about a couple bad actors who had ripped off the Porsche community. That's when our company was dealing with them and I had direct access to their Safe Harbor team. Both accounts were closed. Both re-opened. One under a new name and one under the same name. Then eBay shut down the Safe Harbor group. I don't know if they've replaced it with a fraud-seeking team.

I advise anyone dealing with eBay to do a search of the account on toolhaus.org -- it goes through the entire history of the account, not just the last 12 months. The bad actors run one account down with negative feedback and switch to using another until the negatives "time out" and then they come back.
