Who knows what of this rare Momo Prototipo diameter 37 cm steering wheel?

Hello to All, I would like to know your opinion, informations that you're aware of about this 37 cm Momo Prototipo seen in my '72 S. That's absolutely different from the others. It just perfect to me and suits my car (also would any other 69-73 911 the best of all other sport wheels I think). Thanks to its proper size it's not only convenient to handle but I can see speedo freely, too. It's larger than any other genuine old Prototipo seen everywhere, also of repros available now. It has a different Prototipo-script, also different shape of spokes (identical to Momo Regazzoni's but larger, also to Dino 246's but those had no holes...) lower spoke is partly wrapped in leather, too, not like "the usually known prototipos". I bought it on a swap meet in Germany, it had a BMW boss and button that I asked to be removed, supposedly taken out of a BMW Alpina CSi, therefore but has no "Alpina" script that all such BWWs' had instead of "prototipo". I saw no one other like that yet, came across by chance on a rainy, muddy day and am happy to have it in my car. Awaiting your feedbacks on that "mistery" wheel. Thanks.
    George

It's an early-mid '70's version of the Prototipo more commonly found on BMW 2002's & various Alfas.

Momo wheels with this spoke-style were available with silver or black spokes, with holes or without (some have only 1 hole in each upper spoke) & some were labelled 'Prototipo' whilst other versions were stamped 'Prototipo S'.

..thank you, Andy. Its size is just perfect to me not like the 350 mm one...How rare are those in real? I saw no one other, neither in a BMW nor in a 911 of the 70s yet. It's not only that I like it (could have been black, then even more) but by its age it just suits my 72 S. Your opinion?

Not particularly rare George - at least not here in Europe.

They were 'aftermarket' wheels offered by Momo & not associated with any particular car - quite unusual to see them fitted to Porsches.

I have bought/sold a few of them in recent years but they're not a favourite of mine.

That style was used as OEM on a couple of cars but, did not have the punched out holes and the majority of the spokes were covered with a horn push.

    Otherwise, Andy is spot on.

Hi there, that is a FERRARI MOMO wheel , they were seen mostly on some 365´s (DAYTONA). also stock on those cars. here i leave you a store in italy that still´s sell them on nowerdays copy´s, and i say copies so i dont believe that MOMO still´makes them www.autoepoca.it !!As stated here they were seen some around in Europe, not that much.So it´s a real nice and valuable wheel. In Europe they are not comum so good value, as i said it´s what we call a DAYTONA MOMO wheel.

Same stye as used on some Ferraris however, his is a smaller diameter wheel and clearly marked Prototipo. OEM wheels were not so marked. Less valuable than the Ferrari wheels.
