    For the MFI experts, what is the function of that little bar?

    Gentlemen,

    My car is apart for restoration. My MFI pump (2,2S) lies patiently on my workbench. I was taping off all openings on that pump and saw that one of them (an oil passage I believe) has a little bar inside. It can move around a bit. What is that for? Is it broken because it can move about a bit?

    It's the feed fitting for the line into the pump. The "bar" is most likely there to interrupt the oil spray and help dissipate the direct pressure into the pump to aid oiling.

    The bar/pin seem fragile. Does it ever fail after 41 years of service? Now that the pump is temporarily out of service, is it a wise idea to put a new fitting on?

    It is part of the oil filter screen that is in the inlet fitting. Unscrew the fitting and wash it, back flush it. They use to come in a tune up kit from Porsche in the old days and was expected to be replaced. A simple cleaning is all that is necessary. Gled
