Reliable Carriers - they do extensive work with all the big auction houses and major Concours. I just had a car (Scott Clarke's '70E) shipped from Oregon to Chicago with no issues and quick (almost too quick) service.

+1 on Reliable... Other well known carriers (intercity) were quoting me 2 to 3 weeks wait time on a car I bought long distance... Reliable picked it up the next day, (got it out of the owner's storage) and it cost pretty much the same... They arrived early too, and the driver was extremely careful with the car. I'd use them again.

carriers i.e brokers often quote 10 15 days "wait" on each end as they shop around for the cheapest trucker and try to load them up by having YOU wait. they will say that the car will be safely stored however I have been in the yards of some shippers YIKES! uncovered cars stacked tight and seemingly lax on security.
good brokers/shippers will have your car p.u ASAP (I had one picked the same day I called) and keep you informed about your soon to be delivered precious prize.
for the purpose of discussion this refers to experience with auto shipping in the US only.
overseas is another longer story I feel for foreign buyers who have to for wait up to forty days before they lay their eyes for the first time (other than in pictures/videos), on their long distance purchase.

Intercity Lines, Inc. - Call David 1-800-221-3936 and request quote. Say you were referred by Ian Prout and SCDA (www.scda1.com). They do a fantastic job.
