Unfortunately Carl doesn’t seem to provide these any more but I have found this site in Germany that can provide reproductions:

    https://www.open-s.de/themes/kategor...1&languageid=2

They are more expensive at EUR 50 but they provide the yellow vin sticker too and stamp the card with your key number. Would the yellow vin sticker be applicable to late 73 cars (it was mentioned earlier on this thread). Also note the key number prefix is HC/NC. I have seen an RS with this type of key tag so maybe so unless it was a repro.

I wouldn’t mind but they have a couple of versions and I am not sure which one is right for my car. They also sell the type that Carl produced (no yellow vin sticker and only HC prefix on the key number line) but this one they describe as 80s/90s with a barcode sticker on the back.

Can anybody help with what was originally provided for 73 cars on both sides?

    Thanks

Back in 2020 this time warp 72 was sold at an auction house in Melbourne, had been locked away for years.

Pics are of it's original docs but show only the rear side of the key tag which has no vin sticker.

Don't think they sell what we want Gitesh.

I know Hugh Hodges bought his from Carl might see if I can borrow and get some reproduced by a Porsche friend who owns a large printing company here in Melbourne or see if I can track the owner of the 72 to borrow his originals.

Thanks Clyde. A couple of observations:

The one that Carl produced does look like the second version on the German website:

    https://www.open-s.de/themes/kategor...amp;referid=31

They refer to this as 80s/90s but the only difference I see between this version and Carl's is that barcode sticker on the back, which Carl's does not have. Also note that the card title is "Hauptschlussel - Main Key". Post 22 above also shows several old sets with "Main Key".

I think it is time to start a thread in the Technical section for some additional help from those with original key tags.

    Thanks
    Gitesh

Hugh sent me pics today of the Carl card he has.

It is for the Master keys and he quite rightly points out there are in fact 2 cards and the pics I posted are for the auxillary (spare) keys.

Hugh does also have an original Master card which looks identical to Carls card, the card from the site you posted is missing some red writing on the back unless it is covered by the Vin sticker.

If I can get access to the original auxillary card and then use Carls card that Hugh has I should be able to reproduce these accurately.

I know 2 people who want both you and me Gitesh Perhaps others will be interested as well if we need volume to get the price to be sensible.
