For the life in me I can't find a reference to cloudy grey in 69. All my references stop at 68 for this colour.
Was it a special, special order in 69?
Regards
Mike

I've seen it mentioned here:

I would be interested in knowing if the motor could have come with the car just as a general bit of info if the buyer is here.......and if the buyer is going to sell, I would be interested.
Also, for what it is worth on the broken pillar. It would take a much harder hit to break it. Something else would have absorbed the impact and be wadded up; it could be broken lead covering the metal as there is lead in that area, or worst case, rusted out from the inside, but it is anyone's guess. Very nice color for an early 911.

Very interesting to follow. I was close to picking up the phone a couple of times, but was concerned over the conflicting reports of non-matching vs. matching engine numbers. Also, I wasn't familiar with "cloudy grey". On the "plus" side for me were:
1) Unique original color.
2) 1969 is cool, but a bit more challenging restoration.
3) I currently own a 1969 911T that has a lot that's good where the "S" has problems.
I'm slowly restoring the "T" and can only seem to do "tier 1" work even knowing I'll be significantly upside down financially. The same work done on an "S" would be more palatable.
If this interesting "S" pops up again I'll take a hard look at it.
Cheers all.

Just a bump on a year old thread. Wondering what the status is of this car after all the exposure.
Was it salvageable front end damage? On the road to resto? Parted out?
Anyone have an update?

Bump. Where o where is the new owner...
I can tell you that the car sold in Germany about 2 mos after the estate sale for about 45K as it was.
No work done. I remember the auctioneer telling me she sold it to a guy from North Carolina. He convinced her that he was going to restore the car for his dad for his 65th birthday. I was willing to pay a little more than the 18.5 it sold for but the guy really snowed her so she didn't call me back. Oh well.
for sure a matching numbers car VIN 119300335 eng 6390464 is very close to mine.
