How many still have their first Porsche from new ?

The usual history... What date was it acquired ? Which model ? How many miles ( kilometers ) have you driven it ? Is it currently being driven / driveable ? How much has been done to it over the years ?

It was bought by my wife and I ...delivery taken on July 10th 1984. Took awhile to get stateside, as it was held up in Germany due to the metalworkers strike. Wears a production date of February, 1984.

Guards Red 944, Grey beige leather interior, optioned with the very rare Sport H-52 package, which combined options M456 for Sport Suspension, M404 -H.D. Front and Rear swaybars, Sport Shocks, Sport Springs with several other options as a special purchase combo to the buyer. Came with 2 sets of wheels, 4 cookies in 7 inch by 15 and black centered Fuchs 7 and 8 by 15's.

Also has Limited Slip Differential, and according to the special yellow tag affixed to the rear view mirror, 42 miles of --special tuning-and Weissach prep time. This tag has a checklist signoff and signature by the performing driver. The car does NOT perform as casually as most normal 944's.

It now has 69,000 one owner driven miles, shows little to no wear and now has been taken completely off the track, but is currently driven sparingly and competes in local Porsche related car shows.

It wears all its original paint, interior, and all engine componentry except water pump and fuel pump.

Spark plugs, filters, tires, and an attentive regimen of T-belts and rollers are all that has been needed to complete the maintainence schedule.

We have since pursued other like 944's and have found 4 more , but traveled a great distance to bring them back. One , a sunroof delete Ruby Red car, had a much more illustrious track life when owned by its previous PCA instructor / owner. And wears its bruises and garage applied paint as a testament to its prior track history. It was a factory delete car, and it had lots of stuff missing when we found it. Stereo delete, console delete, raised hub steering wheel, no gas cap lock, and also optioned with 2 sets of wheels, standard 7 inch cookies, and Forged flat Fuchs as came on 928's.......but this is a whole 'nuther story.

Very cool water pumpers that few know much about, and most certainly led our passions to owning our other air-cooled cars.
    Porsche...There really IS no substitute.

good story...isn't neat to go to the garage and take an old friend out for a spin... I didn't plan it that way, it worked out that we never had a reason to part with our 1969 911T, that we have had since September of 1968. It was a daily driver, a back up car, then retired to those days when we feel like driving it for grins... because we can. It is a basic 911 T, it was part of the original early shipments, so there was not much in the way of choice or availability. Would have preferred to get a 911S, but didn't want to wait months for it to show up. The car is unmolested and undamaged, a couple of clutches, after a couple of
hundred thousand miles we had the engine and transmission gone through, more as preventing disaster than failure ( oil analysis is a great monitoring tool ). The car still is as built and keeps on "ticking". It's been an economy car :-), dependable cheap transportation through the years and miles driven. I can say that for all of the Porsches we have had. We have put at least 100,000 miles on each of the ones we have had.
