    Early Porsche Radio found...

Picked up this early Porsche radio from a 1970 914.

I have never seen one like it.

    What model is it?

Did 911's also come with this one? I usually see the Frankfurt.

better suited to collect dust somewhere... it has no place in a car that may have a chance of being used occasionally

Motorola radio I think, same as fitted to my '71 911T and, back in the day, my '75 Rabbit. Note that the Porsche slider is attached to and is part of the basket weave bezel. You have the 914 bezel, there is also a 911 bezel for that radio. Doesn't sound as good as the Frankfurt in my '74, but its ok and its original to the car.

Interesting link, thanks. Here is the radio in my '71 911T. Dealer installed I imagine. COA references only antenna and speaker. Paperwork is orginal to my 914 although that now sports the Audivox am-fm-cassette.

Was this a helpful comment .....no. If someone wants an high-end audiofile unit , this is generally the wrong group. It is about OEM restoration , OR high performance DRIVING equipment......not music listening. There are plenty of other places/groups for that.

    At least IMHO.
