    Thumbs up Landy's

This 1964 Eric Rickman pic out of the new Hot Rod D*E*L*U*X*E magazine REALLY through me back to my youth.

I was 15, living in Van Nuys CA., walking distance from the infamous Van Nuys Blvd. cruse of the '60's, and about 3 years away from meeting my High School buddy Hector who turned me on to sports cars/road racing.
I was fully into the teen age SoCal drag race car culture.......

Dick Landy's Automotive Research was about 4 miles from where I lived (so many of the '60's speed oriented shops were in the 'Valley') tucked away in the a small garage complex one alley back from the busy corner of Sepulveda and Magnolia. Us kids would cruse over and get a preview of what we'd see that Sat. night at Lions Drag Strip and that Sun. morning at San Fernando raceway....

....... it was a GREAT time to be growing up........

Chuck, you're a lucky son of a gun, us kids in the midwest could only read about that stuff in the magazines.

I believe he made his home in Northridge just off Chase west of Reseda Blvd. I would occasionally see a trailer with one of his race cars on a trailer parked in front of the house when I would ride my bicycle to Cleveland HS...

Could have been one of his crew's place. Seeing those righteous Mopars that were featured in all the "Hot Rod" mags of the times was a real thrill for a 14yo kid.
