    True VW Designer???

Not sure if this is an old story, but an interesting read:

I don't know. I am almost sure the VW bug was derivative of Tatra V570. The prototype never went into production. But other Tatras of the era clearly show the shape, are rear engined and air cooled.Tatra V570.jpg

See my Tatra 87 for reference (sold last year):

Ferdinand Porsche was born in Czechoslovakia and kept Czechoslovakian passport until Hitler asked him to change it to German somewhere around 1941. There was connection between Hans Ledwinka, chief designer of Tatra and Ferdinand Porsche.

Yes, the controversy is well documented, an infringment lawsuit was filed but interupted by WWII. Ledwinka and Porsche knew one another... Hitler told Herr Porsche that Ledwinka's car was what he wanted for Germany. Ultimately Tatra was awarded DM 3,000,000
from VW in an out of court settlement after the war.

Ganz, like many others were also designing rear-engined cars, but that's the only connection in his case.
