Different finishes on plastic cover REPA-matic seat belt receiver

    All,

I found two different finishes on the plastic covers of the REPA retractable seat belt receivers, one flat, the other one non-smooth. See pictures. The part number on the covers are the same, only other difference is the mounting screws, flathead vs Philips. Any idea when they changed from one to the other, more important from what month/year? I have seen a set of Euro seat belts dated 1976 with the non-smooth cover on the receivers.

    Kindest regards, Cees

    Cees,
for a Rs I think the textured type on the left is correct: I recently saw an incredibly original one and it had this way. My 75 turbo has the same, so I guess it changed later...

    Receiver finish

    Thanks Dave and Andrea,

You both have valuable information and those REPA-matic NOS belts are interesting. I have a similar set somewhere and will dig it out to check the date and texture on the receiver. When I see the phillips head screws then it reminds me of the pre 74/75/76 build automatic roll systems. The plastic covers are fixed with phillips head screws, later version used an oval type of fastener. May be that is a clue? The smooth surface covers came from 72 cars I thought but now I am not that sure anymore. Others that can chime in or check what they have in their car?

    Take care,

    Cees

My 1973 S has the textured REPA receivers shown in left side of your initial photo. In fact I am trying to repair the "Press" button which has faded from the original orange you show. I have removed the two Phillips screws in the back but the piece does not come apart which I would imagine would be necessary to replace the button. Any ideas out there?

Doesn't M Campuzano on this board have the 'press' decals?

I saw this and checked my 10/72 ROW 73S. I have the REPA matic with the texture, phillips head screws and the receiver stems have a wire under the shrink tubing for the seat belt buzzer. They are original and never have been out of the car. The label says 73 REPA and G658. Italian spec car.

Wow, long time ago when I started this thread. What I know now is that the smooth back with slotted screws are 1972 US version as seen in Dirk's example. This would match the four screws used the fix the plastic caps onto the rollers. For MY 73 all screws on the rollers were philip head and bigger in size (M2.5 x M3 or something like that).

    Regards,
    Cees
