I guess I should not have commented at all. I did not want to cut down the car publically. My best freind who has been in the collision repair business for 40+ years looked at the car for me. He said that the car was rough. Poor repairs have been made to the car. Vinn # was in a different place...So he thought the car may have been stolen. The engine ran rough although he said car was fast. The owner was a nice guy. That's the short version. Call me if I can help anyone futher.

Thanks Joseph, for your insight - I did look at the car a couple of days ago. The car's body is indeed somewhat rough, with bondo in the right fender and a portion of the door (I have a mil gauge paint detector, worth its weight in gold!) and a minor dimple in the roof. The car has not been clipped, roofed or had any significant tub repair as far as I can see. Car has a California VIN Plate with original VIN number (confirmed by me during inspection), so it was probably stolen at one time. Clean non-salvage Arizona title, and clean Colorado and California titles before that.

The engine has been recently completely tuned by Patrick Motorsports ($2,000 repair receipt). The problem was improper setting of the MFI. The engine was built by Supertec Performance in 2005 at a cost of about $19,000. All receipts are there, along with a personal letter from Henry. Supertec also rebuilt the 915 with limited slip for $3,400. Patrick Motorsports did the suspension in 2007 for about $7,000. All receipts for all work are there, as well as all receipts from previous Colorado owner, when car had a 2.7 S engine. There is about 6,000 miles on the new build, but I think the "RS" conversion was done in the early 1990's.

The car is fast - I mean fast! Faster than my 2005 C2s. Also handles extremely well. Its not quite a track car, and not quite a street car, but did I mention that it was fast?

After driving and being very impressed, I made an offer, subject to inspection by my mechanic, in spite of the car's faults. Why? - 'Cause the components are all top shelf and I'm not afraid of a little body work. I'll post if and when I know if the car will be mine!

Over the years I have wasted more time and money than I like to think about looking at cars that were misrepresented, either on porpose, or the seller was not knowledgable. I greatly appreciate that you commented.

Wow, I'm really impressed by your thinking. If you just focused on the negative, you'd think this was a "$30K, wrecked and bondo'd, rough running car."

But there was stuff to like about this car, and the issues can be addressed. Enjoy!
