    An Outlaw at Cavallino XXI

We've been attending Cavallino since it began, and the Sunday Sports Classic at Mar-a-Lago for several years. The event began as a display and luncheon benefitting charity. The concours format for this event has been evolving, encompassing makes with otherwise no show event during January. For the second time a feature marque was chosen, this year Aston Martin. Entrants must be 1962 and earlier. We entered our fresh 356S Notch in German Sports and were pleased and surprised by the enthusiastic response from both judges and audience. Pretty stiff competition, including several 300SLs and an A Cab Carrera.

Over 120 stunning classics were entered. Who says a 356 hotrod at a concours can't take home jewelry?

Congratulations on recognition of what looks to be a really neat car. Certainly more character than those Montezemolo's in the background. I particularly like the S.E.V. Marchal kitty-cat on the fender -- more appropriate than the usual Mobilgas Pegasus given all that wattage out front. What's under the "hood?"

Many thanks guys, it is a fun ride... probably the only (regularly) street driven car at the show.

Still need to take detail pics but have been busy... to answer Chris and David power is an SC with big P&Cs: 1886cc,
SC cam, custom jetted 38mm Webers. Nothing exotic, Bruce's build is straightforward but has serious grunt. Waiting on
the 4-into-1 exhaust, currently has a Bursch header/muffler. The current engine is still 6V but the 2.2 ltr Polo4 Dean built
for me is gonna require a switch to 12V. I'm re-thinking tranny choice for that as well, the 741A swapped for a VW bus
    unit with appropriate gears.

Raj, absolutely agree with keeping the wheels inside (and the right size) as key to the proper stance. Chassis was setup
with a Z-bar, Bilstein HDs, stock bushings for compliance and to push the wheels out just enough, 20mm spacers.
The result is great ride and comfort with near track-like handling.

Absolutely at Sebring, Juan... both dates, see ya there!

    Russ:
Beautiful , stunning example. Did not get a chance to speak with you at the event.

Admired the Porsches in the mix and feel the representation should be stronger.....but it is in conjunction with the Red cars week of play. ;-)

My wife and I have attended for the last few years and must say it keeps getting better at each step.
Hope we can talk together at the next show.....share a few stories.

Congratulations on a well deserved honor.

    Love the meal they served.
awesome doesn't describe this whole scene......a great winter respite for those of us Northerners, to take and be a part of.
