    Thumbs up SCCA Suday

Last Sunday Chris Tallon and I took a look at the SCCA National/Regional 'Super Weekend' at CA. Speedway....... I haven't been to a SCCA race (except for a couple of hours at a Northern Cal. regional over 10 years ago) since the early 80's.

Great day at the races... And I even saw a couple of guys from the 'old days' still make'n it happen...

    - Wolfgang Maike (a name you don't forget over the load speaker) used to drive killer Porsches back in the seventies... a particular bad-ass 914-6 comes to mind. Now drives (I guess for years) and wins in a GT3 Toyota. When I asked "Wolfgang Maike of the '70's?" he said in his German accent "Yeah, yeah... I sould have my head examined"... I think Wolfgang is about about seventy.

    - Andy Porterfield The same guy that's been making and selling brake pads for what seems to be 100 years. Andy has never quit!!!!
He was driving his 800HP tube chassis, "Camaro" GT1.............. I think Andy is over eighty..........

    ...... and so it goes

    Cheers

    Well there'ya'go ... thanks Jeff

In Andy's 30 min. race he went from last to 4th.
Then it seemed the car or Andy or both got tired ..... but GREAT to watch while they lasted.......

Take a ride with Andy at California Speedsway when he was 79!

I used a lot of his brake pads while I raced. Thank you to Andy for making my race car do the most important thing a race car should do: STOP!
