    What price to pay?

    All,

I am looking for some input on an engine value. I have a lead on a '67S engine, complete with weber carbs. Supposedly it ran when removed from a car 25 years ago. Still turns by hand, but I expect at least everything needs to be opened and checked.

Owner wants me to make him a fair offer. I don't want to tick him off, but I don't want to overpay either. What seems to be fair? 2500? 4k? more??

    All input welcome.

    Thank you,

    Jules

Hard to say, but to be fair to him maybe price the parts individually to come up with some sort of number. The case alone is at least 2K, Webers 1K, and say another 2K for heads, cams, etc.. 5k may be a good place to start.
