Wanted - SWB engine sound pad

I need to find a nice, original engine sound pad to complete the restoration of my '67 SWT. I don't believe there's any difference to speak of between 911 and 912, or that Targas are any different. No big hurry, but I'll be trying to get the car together in May.

67 911s came with a pad with small protruding "dots" on the exterior surface. To preserve originality I peel off the outer surface from the horsehair like backing and glue it to a more modern foam backing. After all these years it will be hard to find an original 67 pad that you can use as is because the backing material gets pretty funky over time and delaminates.

I believe 912s used a foam pad that, for at least some 912s, was also used to pad the side engine compartment walls.

Regarding Targas, I just did a 68 SWT 912 and would have to say the pad dimensions ARE different than coupes. I made my own pattern and used this highly recommended foam padding I got from McMaster-Carr, 85175k59, Oil-resistant neoprene Buna-N 1/2" thick x 57" wide @ $18 per foot, I bought 2 feet.

Never easy and simple, is it? I have a '65 that has the dimple pad. What I remember of the '67 targa pad was no dimples - semi smooth exterior, horsehair backing. Maybe there was some variety in what the factory used.
Nice idea about reconstruction the pad with neoprene - if i can't find an acceptable original, that's what I'll do.

    Thanks Dan!

I've been in contact with Mr. Putz. It is still available.
