    Correct early wire guide locations

    Hey All,

I have a question about the proper location for the plug wire guides on early weber cars (66-67). These are the round rubber grommet style that have a flat tang with a mounting hole. I see a lot of pictures of the left side locations that people choose. One location on the left is down by the duct that connects to the shroud where there is a hex head bolt. The other left side location is through the shroud around the middle position. On the right side, which is always slightly less clear in most photos, the mounting position seems to be on the stud that protrudes from the head that the carb manifold mounts to.

What are the correct positions? I've attached a photo of the lovely '67 normal that was for sale on the board a bit ago, and the guides here seem to follow the lower position on the left shroud side, and from what I can discern from the right side, it's bolted to that stud. There is also a picture from a recent post that shows the left side in the middle position on the shroud ( I realize those are solex carbs, does that make a difference? ).

    Any photos/insights would be great!

    Dan

Thanks! That's certainly another data point for the left side location. Unfortunately, I still can't see anything on the right side...

LOL Dan I was considering precisely the same question when mounting my wires the other day! The left one points straight back and the right one goes on the manifold stud, I'm pretty sure.

The left one always looks to be canted about 30* toward the outside -- somewhat following the natural path of the wires.
