    1966 911 Service Book #303-590

I found the original service book to the 1966 911, chassis serial number 303-590, engine serial number P903-882. If I am reading it correctly, I think the original owner was James M. Cook, Jacksboro, Texas. The car was purchased on 9/22/66 at University Volkswagon, Fort Worth, Texas.

So, in this vast Porsche world on the 911S Registry ... does anyone keep a data base of chassis numbers and/or engine serial numbers?

If I can locate the car and its current owner, I would pass the book on.

Can you show a scan. The car was purchase in september but probably built in feb/march 1966. Are you sure it is 9/22/1966 or 3/22/1966 ?
Unfortunatly nothing in my database. The closest I have is 303589.

    Service Book

Below are the pictures of the 911 Service Book. I learned a few things by going through the book. The delivery date to the first owner was 9/22/66. My husband purchased the car on April 12, 1968 from Foreign Car Co., Forth Worth, Texas. So, it was fairly new when he bought it. In the plastic folder was a Delta Mark Ten unused sticker, Delta Mark Ten installation instructions, and blank registration certificate. What is a Delta Mark Ten? Is anyone interested in the sticker?

How interesting, your 66 was bought from right here in Ft. Worth. When I moved here in late 71 both University VW and the "Foreign Car Co."
were both still doing business. In the early to mid seventies University VW was no longer allowed to sell Porsches, that was the beginning of the Porsche+Audi separate dealerships. I worked for the new Ft Worth dealership (Green Oaks Porsche+Audi) in 73 and 74. Jacksboro is just northwest of Ft Worth. I checked the earliest Maverick region roster I have handy (91) to see if James Cook was still listed, but no luck. So how did you and your husband come to buy a car from Ft.Worth? Magazine ad at that time?

A Delta MK.ten is an aftermarket C.D. ignition (capacitive discharge) system popular back in the day to help prevent plug fouling. When the Germans finally figured out we don't all have autobahns to drive on they started installing a Bosch C.D. system as standard on 69 E's and S's and late 69 T's I think.

My car had a Mark 10 as well. I have that sticker on my air cleaner! :-)

Although I don't know whether I will install a Mark 10 again, I am interested in the sticker so I can have my air cleaners freshly coated and put that same sticker back.

A picture of my air cleaner just for fun,

    Richard

I was just looking through the service book for my car yesterday. Written in ball point inside the back cover was that they installed a Delta ignition. A Mark 10 came with the car.

Richard, the sticker is all yours. I just thought someone might be interested in it. I am sure your air cleaner will look much better with the NOS sticker.

Ed, I didn't meet Jim until 1975 when he already had the '73 S. In the late 60s/early 70s, he was in the Army and stationed in Duncanville, Texas. I am thinking that Duncanville is not far from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Someday, I hope to visit Texas.
