    Thumbs up What game?.........

Not being a traditional 'sports guy' for the last 40 years or so I've enjoyed Super Bowl Sunday in other ways.......... years ago it was having some of the best mountain bike trails to myself... lately it's another excuse to take a nice drive in the blue car. The weather in SoCal has been exceptional, and any other Sunday late afternoon would have been very busy up in our hills....... but two days ago I was one of few and it was wonderful.........

    Thumbs up

Ended up meeting Lars in his '73 1/2 T at my buddy Hector's shop out in Oxnard.

Hector was doing a service on a client's 512 Boxer, and working on his long time Alfa GTAm tribute project.........

You missed Madonna for that? Looks like a fun day and better than football for sure.

A day well spent with no cars on the road. Hector's Alfa looks very cool.

    Thanks for sharing.

I'm with ya, Chuck. Who cares about watching the big game in real time--that's what DVRs are for. I opted to go to the first PCA-SDR autocross of the 2012 season at Qualcomm stadium with 90 other car fanatics instead. It was a fun day, even though I had my worst driving performance since 2002, when I DNF'd my first two runs at the SCCA National Tour event there in my Formula Ford and threw away the C-Mod class win.

I must have gotten too aggressive after putting down a safe, clean, mid-1:19 on my first run, as I managed to hit a cone on each of my last two runs. I never saw, heard or felt any contact and thought both runs were clean--all I can think of is that I must have shaved an apex a little too close and clipped a cone with the rear wheel after rounding it somewhere. Both runs were in the low 1:18s and would have been good enough to win the top indexed time for the day, but with the 2-second penalty on each of them I had to keep the 1:19, which was still good enough for a class win, but only 4th on indexed time. I had to give back the BRI Perpetual Trophy I had from winning the last event, but I did manage to add a unique item to it (which is the tradition--each winner adorns the trophy with something unique, giving it quite a baroque appearance over the years).

More pics of the event than you could possibly want to see are here:

In the first picture, you can still see smoke coming off the tires from the multiple donuts... Nice!
