    just 1 battery

    i have a 72e and i would like to change to just 1 good battery,is this just a matter of removing the one of the positive lines?thank you

    Yes. The positive cable to the right side (passenger) battery is piggy backed off the left side battery terminal. You can remove it from the left side terminal as it is mounted with a squeeze clamp.

    Or you can just tape it inside a sturdy plastic box and leave it in place.

    James, I think what Mike was suggesting was rather than remove the cable, just disconnect it at the left side battery and tuck the end out of the way. I know of an instance where someone just unhooked the cable at the right side battery and wrapped it (evidently not well) it grounded and started a fire severely damaging the front compartment of a freshly restored genuine RS ! I guess I'm sensitive to not removing the cable as twice I've had to find and install another cable because the next owner of the car wanted to put it all back right.

    Hi Ed, Well yes. Do wrap it carefully. A "hot" electrical cable jumping around could do an awful lot of damage!
