that is the 356 style which is incorrect

here is what you want. notice the profile of the ring is very different, not just the tab.

btw, they dont sell them new, and they dont come up for sale too often which is a shame imho best looking headlights porsche made

I have a mismatched set of these lights, one original chrome trim ring with the flatter profile and one with the more rounded 356 style trim ring with the tab piece drilled out. I was looking this week and found these listings on Stoddards and Pelican Parts:

    http://www.stoddard.com/shop/shopexd.asp?id=60262

    http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...ADLIGHT%20RING

The PP listing describes this as a non-returnable genuine Porsche part. On the pricey side, but it looks like these should work. Am I missing something or should these trim rings work as replacements for these early Hella lights?

No, The sealed beam fits into the assembly in the notched area in your photo. Not like the 68 up style (scoops) that bolt in the fender with a subassembly.
If you are willing to part with the H-1s, I may be able to help.

    no, those look like h4s.

original hella lights have a completely domed lense.

h4s and h1s have a flat front, then an angled top.

I believe those are the European headlights. I had a set on my 356 (with tabs, not screw holes) and they were original for European delivered cars.

Sorry tyson, those are correct! my apologies, the flutting on the top kind of screwed with my perspective and made me think it was going back at an angle. those are indeed European 911 lights. thank you for the side view.

here is an h4 which is aftermarket. you can see the lense here
