    914-6 turn signal switch ??

My 914-6 has a balky one. My mechanic tells me the 914-4 and 914-6 turn signal switch assembly is NOT interchangeable and I would have better luck adapting a used 901-assembly, although he says that is a lot of work, also. Really? Not that I don't believe him, but why would they be any different, especially if for the same year? I am aware that the 914-4 had the ignition switch on the steering column, but does that affect the turn signal switch. Thanks gurus!

I don't have the answer, perhaps others here do, but you may want to post your question on the 914World. There are number of 914-6 owners there.

    Good luck,

Your mechanic is right. The 914-6 used an entirely different steering column.

Thanks guys for the input. I'm not sure what the problem is, but mechanic seems to think beyond repair. Perhaps damaged by aftermarket steering install. Will find more out when I talk to him again.

I haven't tried yet, but I always figured I'd graft an early 911 switch and half-loom onto the 914/6 plug and half-loom should the need arise.

That sounds like a possible option, too. Responded to PM, thanks.
