I wouldn't make a good Rallye Navigator for sure. Or a driver either for that matter. I dont know how those Navigators do it. Just along for the ride...no control whatever. Cripes !
A GT3 is the next car in my future. They clearly are the longhoods of the future. Just trying to figure out what year.

Tom i would get one of the 996's. I drove one on the track a couple of weeks ago and was surprised how comfortable I felt punting it hard. Feels very similar to my longhood race car but just a little more 'wooden'.
I like the fact that it is all driver with no aids other than ABS.

Tom,
Just picked a 2005 GT3, an incredible car. A lot more raw than I expected. You can pick one up for a price of a nice T.

Tom, it depends what you are planing to do with the car. If you will not drive often on track a 996 - for sure the MK2! - it probably the best value for money and then the car feels purer then the 997s. If you want to use it a lot on track I think the 997 GT3 MK2 is the best choice. I do own a 996 GT3 '05 and a 997 GT3 RS '10. To have really high performance on Track the 996 needs some upgrades, at least the suspension and then you want more downforce on the front. This can be done by modifying the airflow into the front. Something that all 996 GT3 RS and later cups cars have and all 997 GT3 have. 996 are a little nervous on track because of the small chassis. 997 GT3 feel way more balanced. My 997 RS has a wider track even n the front, means significantly less understeering. This car is so amazingly fast and stable. The 3.8 engine has a lot of torque. As a summary, GT3 are really addicting on track, so much grip on the rear, high revs - 8.3K - and the cars are so well build and can take a lot of torture. It is the utimate modern Porsche feeling. Try one!
