    Factory Original Radio Mounting

From time to time I've dabbled in early Porsche radios. Recently, I had someone ask me about a "faceplate." Now occasionally I've seen many photos of various very nice Porsches with radios shown with faceplates. What I'm wondering is IF Porsches ever (we know ANYTHING is possible but let's talk about "standard" SOP) came from Zuffenhausen with faceplates? I've gone through a very large picture file of Porsches and believe the following pictures (both poor and good represent the MOUNTING that was standard from the factory, e.g. no faceplate. Keeping in mind the radios were VERY prone to fail and be replaced or, at least, updated, it is difficult to find really original installations. In fact, some of the radios pictured below may not be original. However, I think the mounting is. Comments? Thanks!

Yes, that's true and I guess that is a "faceplate too." However, I was talking about a plate different from the dash material fascia (like basket weave, etc.) Thanks.
