I have a stratton ducktail if you want it, but i have to tell you that the quality is not that great. I had a full on RS build at TRE and we used the Gary Stratton tail. Axiom did the paint work on my car and they had to work the tail quite a bit to get it straight. (read extra time and money) After doing the CA targa last year, Dave from TRE and Rudy from Axiom notice an issue with the tail. It does not have the back support like the factory tail. Even though it is a metal frame, i dont think it is enough. I have a hard time seeing it but, they tell me a crack will develop. After spending tons of hours on the paint and body work i cannot stand for this kind of imperfection. I am having Dave do a special "all metal" version for long term strenth. Let me know if you are interested, but the tail is not up to my standards. It's freshly painted Viper green with cut out for license plate lights and the porsche decal on it. Be warn on Gary Stratton's quality. ie workmanship.

Is there a higher quality tail out there? From what I've read Gary's ducktail is one of the better ones, at least in the US.

Gary gets no bad press but i have had some private emails with a couple of imdividuals that have had lots of issues with him and his tails. my suggestion is ditch steel frame and just go all fiberglass or pony up for custom work if authenticiy or steel is a prefered. i hate seeing people get ripped off.

This is news to me, but with my nice grill sitting and waiting for insertion into a nice Duck, I certainly appreciate all input....will have to wade through it all in the near future. I can see this thread growing a bit, which is fine; we need info, no? Thx...

Do yourself a huge favor and buy one from a reputable seller (like TRE, I'm biased since he sells top notch stuff) closer to your home. I'll be glad to PM details of names and phone numbers of people that have been ripped off by this guy. I had been warned and luckily I didn't do business with them (son is Jason,) Sonjay on Pelican. They are in my back yard and sadly most of these types like the warmer climate and end up here in Florida.

Is this a Stratton tail as well? Can you show the crack?

Not a Stratton tail. Though I think he bought out the company, or the rights to reproduce the tail a few years back. The crack is approximately 3.5" long and hard to see unless your looking. I added the shot to the photos on my site in case it doesn't show up.
