Thread: replacement of single dash speaker recommendations

  1. #21
I picked up one of these for Ol' Ivory. One of the very thin leads was broken on the OEM speaker.

I also had the Blaupunkt rebuilt but am thinking that bothering with stereo for a pair of speakers 1/2" apart in the center of the dashboard makes little sense even though the rebuilt unit has wires for two pairs of speakers. I'd appreciate thoughts about this.

If I stick with mono, do I wire these 4-ohm speakers in series or parallel?

    Thanks!

Dave at TRE Motorsports has a duel speaker set up for the front dash (replacing the single speaker) sounds great.
I picked one up from him. Thought I'd throw that bit of info into this old thread... in case someone is looking it up.

I just ordered this 4x10 speaker with dual inputs. I’ll let everyone know how it works.

I just did this last week and bought the Koenig speaker from Sierra Madre:

Don’t buy the Retro speaker as it doesn’t fit.

Woody's Custom Shop in California (markets to VW and Porsche guys) has radio and speaker options to include a dual speaker that fits perfectly in the original dash speaker opening and mounting holes.

Thank you, I’m placing an order from Woody’s. As I was advised that Retro speaker doesn’t fit. Should have measured...
