WTB: San Diego Porsche License Plate Frame

Looking for an original license plate frame for the Porsche Dealer that would have been operating in 1973. Help!

I was a Jr in high school in 1973 and I often visited Alan Johnson Porsche Audi on Rosecrans Ave. I'll bet thats the frame you are looking for. John Straub will know much more than me though.

The '73 PDL shows only one dealer in the San Diego area . . .

    Mesa Porsche Audi . . . . . . . . . . . 8333 Hercules St . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . La Mesa (San Diego)

As for San Diego Motor Imports, Inc? . . .

    (correction)

    From the Aug '68 PDL . . .
    422/122/1 . . . San Diego Motor Imports, Inc . . . . 1954 Kettner Blvd . . . . . San Diego

'Alan Johnson Porsche Audi on Rosecrans' appears on no PDL between '69 and '73

Thank you everyone for the feedback posted to this point. If anyone has a line on a Mesa Porsche Audi Plate from 1973 please let me know. Again, thank you.

I know that in 1971 the dealer in La Mesa was called Dick Barbour Porsche-Audi. I had work done , and also purchased parts there. I remember looking at new 71 &72 911s there. I believe this was prior to the Alan Johnson dealership on Rosecrans. The LaMesa site is now a Dodge dealer. Alan Johnson's dealership opened in the 70s but I don't recall what year.

There was an importer in Santee named Bob Brown Motors. It was not a Porsche dealership, but he had brand new 911's on his little lot with the window stickers still on them.

It was Mesa Porsche-Audi. San Diego Motor Imports stopped selling Porsches in '69 and Alan Johnson started in '74. Hope this helps. Bob Brown was an independent in Santee about the early 70s.

Interesting. Dick Barbour Porsche Audi appears in the '72 PDL . . . at the same address as Mesa, which is listed in the '70 and '73 PDLs

Looks like the Barbour franchise only lasted a short time, coming from --- and reverting back to --- Mesa

    Hmm
