I am interested too. I was debating on investing in a small random orbital like this one http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...ortby=ourPicks and some glass polish to see what i could do.. but then again thats expensive for a set of lenses and might not be able to get deep pits. interested to see what you find.

Curious if the lettering is raised on the glass?

Harry - at one point I had several pairs original glass with pitting and scratches. I took them to a few glass shops in town and turned away the work because they knew the attempt would be unsuccessful.

was afraid of that. oh well, there goes my excuse for getting a 3" random orbital.

i know a guy who details very high end rare cars for a living.. mostly ones that start with F and M. he is the one who brought my paint from the dead. I am going to ask him if he knows of anything that he does for cars with glass parts that are NLA.. worth a shot.

I've had good luck in the past with clearcoating glass. first, etch the glass, I used crushed glass blasting. then spraying with high quality catalysed automotive clear coat , I used PPG. will last for a few years before needing to be re-freshed. much easier the second time. a quick wet sand of the existing clear coat. then spray.

removing pits or scratches from glass is near impossible without very specialized equipment.
