    MFI Throttle Body Shaft Movement

    Hi all.
Before I spend a lump of cash on getting my '73 S throttle bodies re-bushed and restored I wanted to make sure that they need the work done.
Is any amount of play considered acceptable at the shafts while @ idle. The movement isn't visible, but holding the non bell crank side, I can feel moment with each intake cycle. I can get the shafts to move a little while the engine isn't running, but it's not huge.
Would this small amount of slop be an issue?

    Advice appreciated.

I wouldn't rebuild them unless I was having problems, like rough idle, variations on idle speed etc.

    Thanks David.
The car idles OK with only am occasional pop while not fully warmed up.
If a small amount of play in the shafts is acceptable, then I'll probably wait a bit.

Second that advice, if it is running well, go with it. When it will no longer run well you will know it is time. That is the opinion of my mechanic, not me. I would make sure they are adjusted properly bc I thought mine were bad, but they just needed adjustment.

Great. Happy to have a 2nd opinion! The car is running like a top so I think I'll save the $1500 for a different project.

BTW, really enjoying your thread Mark. Looks like she's getting close to complete.
