    Post Gratuitous Pics of a '73 S

Purchased her 10 years ago during the price slump. It has to be the only time I have targeted the market correctly. The S came with crazed paint, a numbers matching 2.4 which was very tired, a worn gear box with a reluctant 2nd, a well worn interior, but fortunately only a little rust - under the windshield frame. It was purchased from an S Reg member.

The car was pretty original except for rear 944 7s, GP White painted wheels, and fg ducktail. The COA verified that the interior was all leather with hounds tooth inserts, power windows, sunroof, AC, thru the grill fogs, engine light, and sway bars.

The car has since had a bare metal windows out respray in the original GP white. The 2.4 has been retired to the garage and replaced with a built 2.7 RS spec, and a big surprise from Gus when I sent the S MFI for a spacer, he returned a real RS MFI. Upgraded chain tensioners. valve covers, a oil pump was installed. The transaxle was rebuilt and a Quaife LSD was added which transformed cornering. The suspension was gone through, turbo tie rods and bump steer added as well as upgraded front and rear sways. The 944 rear 7s have moved to the 914, and have been replaced with some genuine anodized RS 7s.

The AC, rubber overriders, deco, seats, and other bits were removed and placed in safe keeping.

The car now accelerates cleanly and crisply through the gears. Not having to downshift from 5th to overtake on a 2 lane road was a relevation. The freshened suspension with the LSD transformed cornering from good to very good. The original normal seats lacked support and now have some non-period Recaro stand-ins which compliment the car's cornering ability. As a result, the S is a pure joy in the corners. It does everything very competently and brings a big smile whenever I'm behind the wheel.

Here are some recent pics of its latest incarnation.
