    re ossi blue paint code

I wonder if someone can help me I have a 1970 911 very early build car and the paint code is 6803 which in my book comes up as 1969 ossi blue....would this have been a special order?or because it was built in the first month of production for 1970 model year were they still using 69 paint codes?

Did you try www.elferhelfer.de ? Even if you do not speak German, click on the tab that says Farben (colors) and you can choose your year. Sondern means special. Some colors even give formula to mix the paint.

I'm not the authority on this subject by any stretch but I too have a '70 and did a bunch of research on which blues were available that year. As near as I can figure, Ossi blue was last offered in the '69 model year but that's not to say that no '70s were painted in this shade. Two things that I can think of are: 1. Original customer wanted Ossi blue and ordered the colour as a paint to sample - about 1 - 1.5% of all 1970's came in "paint to sample" and I know that some paint to sample cars were painted in no-longer available Porsche hues. Or 2, as you say, your car is a very early build; perhaps the factory just used up the last of their Ossi blue supply on the 1970's. Besides 6803 under the paint code, does the COA mention anything else for color? All the COA mentioned for my car for color was Paint to Sample/98. Never figured out what the "98" referred to but another 1970 owner I know with a paint to sample car says his COA says the same thing and our cars are painted different colors.

Any earlier color was available as an extra cost option. I believe your badge is of the correct 1970 type with the early paint code. So it must have been by special order. The COA or Kardex should show it as a custom choice, and probably not even record the badge code.
