    2012 Phoenix Show

    Sorry, but Mr Miller's original thread . . .

    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...-Swap-pictures

    . . . is getting a bit tangled-up . . . lots of shops/events/open houses/goofing-off w/cars going on that week-end ---- I had NO idea. Gettin' to be Monterey South 'round here --- and that's not a bad thing.

Anyway. This thread is just for The Phoenix Show, Sunday, 04-Mar.

Got there after 8:00 AM. And, as you can tell, SoCal springtimes can be brutal. Sunscreen, anybody?

    1) This is what happens when you bring a Jag to a Porsche show. (And talk your Ol Lady into going with.) Not only will you get a repair bill that will probably require one of those special credit-line checks to pay, but . . . . you'll be doing a few week's-worth of couch-time, to boot. Next time --- may I suggest a 'pre-flight'?

This was also the only hiccup getting into the venue, that morning. Really smooth operation Mr Miller and the Guys ran.

    3) Rolly sellin' stuff . . . note the hubs + wheels. (And anything Rolly's got . . . 's gonna be good)

    2) Lawn lizard . . . and grass absorbs oil

    4) Pet-friendly. Labra-poo or something like that. Nice dog. Big, kindy raggy-looking, but sweet as can be. Course, she's got the place to herself. I bring my dog here and all hell would break loose

    5) $15k Prototipo. Nice 'n' light, no bends, sweet rubbed-down leather. With iron-clad documentation? . . . . worth every penny. WAY more usable than that $984k driving suit. German Guy was also selling nice big Porsche vellums

    1969 911S soft-window Targa. Like 8? 10 made?

Yankee model car with sugar scoops + black plates. I'm not much for red. And I'm not much of a Targa Guy, either . . . softies, even less so . . . but this car? . . . is flat-out spectacular.

Don't know anything about this vehicle --- the history, The Story, The Lucky-a$$ Owner . . . just that I've seen this car exactly twice, and it just gets more gorgeous every time I see it.

Shut-lines, fit, finish, chubbies, plates, everything . . . and spotless.

    Feast . . .

    904 - 002

Seen this car at our local Saturday C&C. Love 'beaters,' in general . . . and this one pretty much defines the species.

    Patina? If you say so.

    Miles? Uhhhhhhh . . . some.

Numbers match? Never looked. Well . . . once.

    No guilt, no mercy . . . . . no prisoners

Color code 4545, Fraise . . . French for 'strawberry'

Don't have my Konradsheim handy but wasn't this a one-of-one color combo in '73? Look like 8s and 9s on some really big tires

    Another WOW car

    More '12 Phoenix Show . . .

    1) and 2) Turbo Carrera. Off-beat color, two-year-only script (in the US). Original Gen 1 non inter-cooled 'tail --- note the slimmer profile, extra little slot on top.

    3) Black plates . . . two are even authentic (Yup --- doctoring license plates. This is what things've come to. Sheesh! ) I see stuff like this and I always wonder . . . 'What else 's been goofed with?'

    4) and 5) More Back Yard . . .

    Some 356s . . . .

Interesting to compare the kind of 'personalizing' done to these cars . . . versus the 911/912 crowd

Even more interesting would be to see a full line-up of cars ---- from oldest to latest . . . some history to see, show how far Porsche has come . . .

    . . . and where from . . .

    1) Trevor's Hammerworks . . . . if you've got a body-bumper car with needs . . . looks like nice stuff, too --- even has the little tail light 'pips'

    2) Now THAT'S what I call a parts-hauler. I swear --- these things were this shiny never. I think VW painted 'em flat, or, at least they got that way on the trip over here. All you can haul . . . w/ 40hp

3), 4) and 5) Side Yard. I almost walked-out without seeing this stuff. Juuuuuust a few people.

Love to hear what the attendance numbers were . . .
