    Original 1965 RHD 901's : SA '119' - 901/911 RHD Delivery No 1

    Team,

I'm going to add posts on the car here to collate in one spot some of the info I've previously posted on my '65 911, the first customer delivered RHD 911 worldwide.

I'll also collate some info on early, i.e. '65, RHD 911's here.

For some while now I have been working on a project to catalogue the factory built RHD 1965 cars and have details on those I've seen advertised and sold from about 1991 (when I got my car) and then started the '65 RHD 911 documetation quest, to the present.

There are also a few whose whereabouts are 'unknown'.......

The known cars total about a dozen '65's and with MY'66 cars included add to just under 20.....so not a lot of VIN's. The first four RHD 911s were largely handbuilt as there is quite a time between build completions on these first four VIN's; all interesting data I'm in the process of collating, sourced from the Factory, the UK, NZ and locally here in Aus.

I'll kick off with a suprise I had last weekend when I visited our local dealer to see the 991 and was handed the latest Christophorus; the images were taken in about 2000 and I had no idea we used on our latest Australian and NZ version of the factory magazine.

The image on the cover was taken at the hillclimb track on the first owners property in the Barossa Valley. A very nice honour to be a Christophorus cover car.

If you've any '65 RHD vin info you've not shared with me before, I'd be most grateful to hear from you via a PM. Look for 'rechtslenkung' (RHD) on the kardex.

    Cheers

    Stew.

    Garage find.

Sometime in 1989-90, where it all began. How I first laid eyes on the car.

It took a few persistent and diplomatic years to prise it from the owner.......

    Order Sheet

    from a post of 2007

"Stone Grey, code 5710 is unusual for an early 911 as it was a "special" 1957 colour that was listed as available for that year only....of course being Porsche you could have any colour (or option) you wanted, which I assume is how my car came to be ordered in this colour.

Here's a copy of the original dealer order confirmation detailing the special order paint, all six kilo's of it: "Catacolor-Rundumverglasung 6 kg Farbe steingrau" : "6 kg of paint stonegrey". And the "Skai dunkelgrun" "dark green" interior......it has an emerald green leatherette interior with the standard deep grey carpets."

Car was ordered at the announcement of the 901 with our local Concessionaire Hamiltons directly, the published date of this order is April '64.

We still have the early 901 brochure my dad was sent. He visited the factory for the first time in September 1963.

    901 Brochure

Here are some of the brochures and papers that came to me with it. Some early, some mid '65. A few Christophorus issues too, from '65.

Justin the original 901 brochure is dated 9.63, I imagine the same as yours.

Stew, do you have info on the two MY66 901 here in NZ? Still digging for info, but the present owner believes his 901 is the earliest NZ delivered car. Both cars in being restored. Let me know and if you don't have info I'll put the owners in touch with you.
