Thread: SWB "Euro Spec" Ride Height

    SWB "Euro Spec" Ride Height

Getting set to install my refurbished suspension in my 66. Components include 195/65 or 185/70's on 6". stock torsion bars, rebuilt Koni's, 15mm Rear anti sway,
stock bushings , unrolled fenders. Would like to lower it to, for lack of a better term, "Euro Spec" ride height or what was done back in the day.
Did a quick search and didn't come up with anything.
What is a good starting point? Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    50/50

Bruce Anderson frequently says 25 1/2" in front, 25" in rear... Dave Hillman who created the 912bbs used to always say bruce was a 1/2 inch off. not sure if anyone can confirm or not.

Bruce is correct and was using the calculation from the difference of the suspension specs given to the dealers. That is the spec that we used when they were new in the 70s. I never compared the specs to SWB cars, but I expect them to be the same. The tires have to be exactly the same height as the original ones, or you have to adjust the measurement accordingly. As you do your fine adjustments for alignment/corner balance you will find the measurements may change up to 1/4". So it is more of a guide or place to aim for.

Here is my 68...it's 24" from the floor to the top arch of the wheel well in front and a little less in back. I have 195/60s on 15" flat fuchs. Corner balanced, stock torsion bars, elephant poly bronze bushings, Konis f/r and sway-a-ways.

    All: (Harry, Harvey, et al..).
    As usual
Great info. Checked my 71S set up by Jae Lee and the numbers are +/- .25" with 55 series 205's.

Here is another angle. Ride is firm and the smaller diameter tire is one of the reasons it can be that low...that and the wheel arches were trimmed at the factory.

I'm 23" rear and 23 1/2" front with 205/55 tires. I always thought the lowered look on our cars looked better.

I'm 24 1/2 and 23 3/4. The car came that way. I'm a little worried I'm beating up my rear shocks. Anyone pulled off rears to find the shocks are shot? Red konis front and rear. I'm in the process of buying front and rear bushings. I'm thinking of going 25F, 24 1/2R, or even 25 1/2F, 25R. 6" with 195/55/16F(24.4inches) and 6 1/2 with 205/55/16R(25 inches).
I have 18/23 t bars and bought 19/24 SC t bars. I have a 15mm rear sway bar and I think a 15mm front. I think my car currently looks a little butt heavy.
