1970 914-6 Original Spare tire question...

I am trying to figure what color the spare steel wheel was when it came from the factory. I have found a correct date stamped steel wheel to act as my spare and it will need refinishing. I was planning on doing it all silver inside and out until I found this picture. Looks to be a black one?

    Did they come all black?

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.
