Harry, I am assuming that you are wanting confirmation that this is the switch advertised - gas heater. A fog light switch has a slender body with constant diameter. This switch is like a defroster switch in that it flares out at the base where the terminals are. The part number appears to be visible, so if paul posted that then you could get confirmation. No financial interest, just thought I could add my 2 cents.

no, not wanting confrimation, i trust him that it is as he says. he is far more knowledgeable than i.

my last parts car had two switches with these heads, and i assumed they were both fog light switches (whcih had me scratching my head why two?). the new car that arrived today has a switch with the single light rod.. i havent seen the back to tell what it is or not.

so.. just trying to figure out whether i have a fog switch or a webasto switch. but i do see what you are talking about now.. which means they two from the last car were fogs..

BTW, the pre 69 hazard switches are also the same as a fog switch, just different lenses/color. The color on the tips of the rod are painted the same color of the lens, so if it is ROW, green tip = fog, red tip =hazard

    Harry,

the action on the fog light is a pull on - push off. One step action.

The gas heater is a two position pull on, and then a rotate.
First pull out stop is the blower, second stop ignites the heat. The rotation only can take place if it's pulled out to the second stop. It rotates to increase the heat amount. (Hope this is correct - this is from memory - the car is in storage)

Sounds like a 2 stage with rheostat for the 2nd stage. Pretty complex switch.
