    interior sound with deadning removal

Hi guys, just doing a clean up of the interior prior to install of rs carpet set. Can i have some feed back on what you have found with the removal of different sound deadning material.
I plan to take out the engine bay pad, leave in the rubber pads on the inside parcel shelf and seat bottoms but I am torn on wiether to remove the floor material? Just how much louder will the interior be.
Also as a side question did the lwt rs cars have the rs carpet stuck straight to the rear chassis or was there still a sound pad underneath

    Hi John

I can't answer all your questions, but the removal of my factory floor deadening made a huge increase to interior noise. That combined with the light weight perlon carpet and removal of the engine pad resulted in a very loud interior. So much so that I am revisiting the issue with my current rebuild. I am adding Dynamat to the floor and rear firewall (as wellas a layer to the roof).

That's why i used Lizardskins products during my restoration process with a big satisfaction.
I don't like products that need glue ... It's a rust trap. Be careful...

    i'm with Andrea.
Sticking (generic) sound-deadner to the carpet and 'placing' it down has worked well for me for the floor. I won't ever stick carpet or anything to the floor again.
I have used a Pelican engine bay pad (the heavy duty one) which seems good.

    Only to give an example:

    1) products used: Sound Deadenig and Heat control

    2) first step ( 2 coats of Sound Deadening) -- ps: the young guy on picture worked in the fifties and sixties as painter in Carrozzeria Touring... quite an experienced man.....

Note: the Spray Gun was inside the Lizardskin kit, and it's MANDATORY for a good result.

    4) final result ( after painting - light ivory)

The Young Guy said to me that the results (heavy grain) look like absolutely the same as in the sixties..

We made some tests ( sound and heat ) and the result is STUNNING! Koncking both on the roof and on the floor: from "DOOOOOIIINNNNGGGGGGGG" to "DOONG" ! and the same with an Hot air gun.

You must understand that here in Europe we prefer to use german or italian products. Nobody use American products ( no professionals, no private restorers)
I'm a pioneer! and of course lot's of my friends teased me about using " such ammmmericaaaaan things"
Well: NOW everybody want a Lizarskin cans! ahahahahahaha!

You HAVE to buy also their spray gun (it's MANDATORY for a good result) that they sell to you inside the kit.
