    '68 911 Fuel Pump HELP

    Hello,
Last summer I went through the fuel lines and gas tank twice. The issue of the car "bogging" down went away and a few months ago I took the car out for a drive and it happened again. The car acted as though it was starving for fuel and I lost power. When I tried starting the car, the fuel pump wasnt running. Yesterday, I took the car out again. Turned the key and the fuel pump was signing. I let it sit and idle for about 5-7 minutes. Went down the street and came back nothing wrong. Turned it off, started it back up...nothing was wrong. So I went around the block and on the last mile my car was starving again. After my dad towed me back, we checked to see if the pump was getting twelve volts..and it was....but the wiring was a bit shoddy to put it nicely. We fixed the wiring issue and it is now solid and clean. We jiggled the wires and the power was strong......I turned the car on again...fuel pump was running.....I didnt take it out again.. I thought i should wait.

Sorry for this long description..but I would like for you all to know what I know and hope you could help me.

My Question....could the source be the fuel pump itself? Should I buy a new one? Im sure its the original one...and if so....could someone link me to the proper Fuel Pump that I need? Do any of you have another idea in what it could be?? I bought a new front fuel filter last summer from Stoddard when I was going through the lines and gas tank....so it shouldnt be that...at least i hope not.

Thank you very much...hope to hear some feedback.
    Cheers,
    Evan.

Firstly, put in a new filter... they are cheap and good insurance.

Second: The Hardy fuel pump is pretty touchy (but has a great thocka-thocka sound) and can "hang up" even if everything else is fine. The problem is the throwover mechanism tends to jam a little from time to time. There is an adjustment in the service manual but they still will give problems when old.

Replacement: THey started making these pumps again very recently. http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...0%281969-73%29

Air goes in and out, blood goes round and round, any variation of this is a bad thing.
