front bumper "towell bar" ?

IIRC ... (the memory is cloudy, please bear with me ) there was an optional chrome "beauty" bar / "towell rack" for the front bumper seen only on the earliest 900 series cars. did I imagine this ? am I crazy ? answer the second question first
any help, professional or otherwise, appreciated

No, you're not crazy.

Front nudge bars were not factory options on 911s as far as I know, only the single rear bar. The single front bar was made by AMCO and is usually accompanied by a double nudge bar on the rear (also AMCO).

AMCO supplied a lot of aftermarket stuff to dealers for many years including, but not limited to: wooden shift knobs, nudge bars, and engine-turned aluminum trim for inner sills and door pockets.
