    Jeep meets Unimog

I wonder if this was left on the drawing board when Daimler bolted from Detroit?

I like the J-12 pickup myself. Unfortunately, concept cars usually look like crap once they're converted to production cars.

    Daimler couldn't save these guys.

These are cool but the quality needs to be brought up to par.

The shame of the whole thing is that Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram make up the bottom 4 of the least dependable autos built according to JD Power. Their problems per 100 vehicles ranges from 174 to 192. That's not my idea of reliable.
I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee back in 1998 and I'll never own another one. The front differential went out on the way home. The rear went out 5,000 miles later. It did a repeat around 7,500. The brakes were toast at 11,000. ROTORS too. 8 trips for a blower motor, check engine lights galore, radios, etc. etc.

The only one I know of that hasn't been a problem (at least for a friend of mine) is the base Cherokee wagon. It hasn't much of anything electronic and has the in-line 6 which is pretty bullet proof although they used to like to eat rear main seals.

    I wish them well.

    Tom
