just a quick question on what people might think a RHD late 65 911 may be worth, its in fairly rough state but most of the important bits are there
any thoughts

Alex, it would all be about the "rough state"...
Rust is the issue and will be what truly dictates value... I imagine a sound '65 in RHD would have to be reasonably rare and desirable, especially if it's complete. In real good nick, maybe $60k+, even 6 figures in some markets if it can be made perfect... Are you able to share the VIN? Hugh H keeps a pretty comprehensive file on Antipodean 911s and might be able to cast some more light on it.
Photos would also help diagnose condition.

From memory, some 65's can be built to 64 specs for FIA 2.0 litre racing. I think there might be a VIN cutoff.
If the car qualifies then selling into Europe, especially the UK, might be worth considering.

Hi Alex,
If it's a proper rotter the Racing guys will be keen to buy it as Ryan has pointed out it's FIA compliant. They like racing RHD cars because almost all of the circuits are anti-clockwise and there's said to be a marginal advantage. Don't know how true it is. As far as I'm aware no-one races a RHD car as they're probably too rare.
Cheers
David
I have Alex's car on my RHD '65 911 list that I've compiled since about 1991. Its a NZ new car from memory without looking it up.
As there were only a handfull MY65 RHD cars made literally, rarity would come strongly into play here.
Cheers
SCK.

thanks for the replys
well heres the story,i restore classic cars for a living, mainly porsche,i have this rhd 65 (302773),i know its pretty rare, have had some real interest in uk,but would realy like to keep it in australasia ,in nz at the moment, turns out to be the earliest 911 in nz,i would really like to restore this car but just dont have the funds at the moment and to many other projects on the go,so thinking putting on the market,in an ideal world i would like to do the work on the car but if someone is interested as is i would consider selling, details of car,its quite rough, not so much rust more just bad welding, flared guards,no interior, good parts, its a rhd 65,dash seems complete, correct matching engine and gearbox, solex carbs, glass complete, suspension complete
personally i think this car because of its history should be restored back to original(ivory white,red/pepita interior) but would make an excellent race car candidate
so if theres any interest out there lets talk
alex
sorry i havent replyed to any messages yet,at the moment i have some interest here in NZ
on this car,if the deal falls through i will be putting this car on the open market, its a big job
plenty of welding, but i think it has real potential being correct matching numbers late 65 rhd 911
a few photos not real pretty
Hi.
I have a 65 911 inAustralia which was converted from LHD.
Can I ask a favour from you . im rebuilding the dash at the moment and the layout of the the dash dosent seem right. Im looking for a RHD to compare it to.
If you have time could you get a few sheets of paper and rub the dash face outline and all the holes in it. (ignition ash tray and stereo. They can be overlapped as im searching for a reference dash to compare to. Does your car have a timber dash for it?
Thanks in advance
Matthew
i have had a lot of personal messages on this car,so thought it easier to post full detail/photos here instead
of replying individually to all,but thanks for all your enquires
so here goes
chassis 302773
engine 901/01 902996
trans 902/1 224803
colour 6604 light ivory
interior red/pepita
car delivered to Auckland NZ Dec 65
delivered as RHD
these details are confirmed by porsche germany
i do have some owner detail/history but wont post all here at this time
as for condition, well the photos will give you an idea, its quite a big project, not so much rusty
as just very avarage repairs, and of course those flares, which are steel, welded to the original
guards,,there are some parts missing, mainly interior upholstery, seats, dash top
no front bumper,wrong wheels
good points,original engine/box,with solex carbs,no exhaust,or air filter,but we did have the
engine running briefly, but carbs need rebuild,no major bad noises from the engine
brakes/suspension appear to be all there, and look to have had some work recently
gearbox still has nadella drive shafts
glass and side windows all there,,guages, door handles, wiring ,switches appear to all be there
if need a bit of work,
i have a66 912 i am breaking, which has some good bits, which i will include in with this car
mainly the flares, which can be grafted in
added bonus we recently found out this car was a mag feature in 68,and turns out to be possible the
first 911 to enter NZ
so there you have it,any more details/photos please ask,
i am selling as i have just to much going on at this time,as some of you might know,i am in the
restoration buisness, here in NZ,originally from UK,i have owned this car for
about a year,with
all intension of full resto,i would have prefered to see this car stay in NZ being a nz new car
but no real commitment on this car here at the moment,so thought i would put it out there
this will be advertised in uk soon also,
price is $nz 40000 firm,or i will just keep it
let the photos fill in the gaps

Best of luck Alex,
It's a v e r y rare car, one of about a dozen known surviving RHD's built in calendar year '65 out of a make of about only 20 cars in total. Light ivory with red houndstooth- wow.
Feel free to put any prospective buyers onto me for info on the rare known right-drive 901s.
Cheers
Stew.
