    Durant mirrors 1968

    Hi everybody

I need an original Durant mirror for my 911S MY 1968
Are there different durant mirrors ?
I read on this site: large durant mirror, later durant mirror, early durant mirror??
    Thanks for solving

I think 1969 was the first year for the large mirror. As far as I know there were only 2 sizes/types.

2 sizes, small and large. PET shows 68 as year large was introduced. fwiw my 68 has the large.

The parts catalogue gives 901.731.111.00 (this is the "early" one with flat face) up to and including '67 model year; '68 model year 901.731.111.01 ("larger/later" one with rim around edge enclosing the glass with black plastic ring). Having said that I am pretty sure I have seen early '68 cars with the "early" mirror on them just to complicate matters!

Typical of early cars. My build date is 7/28/68 and it has the large, yet one built between ours will have the small one. Seems every now and then they would find an old part in a drawer and say "Don't let that go to waste".

Do you know if you can actually see anything out of these ? Or are they like the repros, decent looking but useless as mirrors due to the lack of movement of the mirror on the base... I need those on 2 of my 3 cars, I'm navigating blind ;-)
