    Non-clutch LSD for 915 transmission?

There are a couple people on ebay selling a type of LSD for a 915 that I'm not familiar with. They describe these LSDs as using gears instead of clutches.
One manufacturer is OBX and the LSD is referred to as a Helical Limited Slip.

    The other manufacturer is Wavetrac.

Can you provide some insight into these units? The prices for these seems reasonable, relative to some other LSDs I've been investigating.

    thanks
    Dave

Torsen article will teach you everything you ever wanted to know.
The obx units seem to have a bad rep with the Honda guys.

I Had an S2000 with a Torsen and it worked very well, although I never raced it. They do have a reputation for needing high quality lubricant.

There are more choices for LSD than ever. The Japanese have done a wonderful job of creating a lot of options. The drifting sport has brought about a lot of new technology. Try KAAZUSA for a start.

    Thanks.

Does anyone out there have actual experience, good or bad, with a particular model?

    Hi Dave,

I have some experience with several types and manufacturers of LSD's such as ZF, Guard, Guard TBD, Quaife, and OS Giken, All of these are OK, but the choice really depends on how your drive the car and what you do (street, street & track, racing).

    Call me anytime.

The usual rule is torque-biasing/helical/Torsen/Quaife for autocross and a clutch-type for track. Some FSAE cars use a torque-biasing differential with preloaded clutch plates to get the best of both worlds.

I autocross mostly...so I'm leaning towards the torque-biasing. Is the torque-biasing the generic term for the units without clutches?

    Yes, Torque-biasing is the term.
