    Fastenerehinges to door shells

    I have a nice set of doors, which have no door hinges. Just very nice door shells. I also have a set of loose hinges. This might be a dumb question, but how are the hinges attached to the doors? I don't know what kind of fasteners were used to mount the hinges to the doors, but on the cars i have seen they look like big round headed rivets of some kind. Are they actually threaded bolts with a round head, maybe with a swuare collar? I am afraid that whatever the fasteners, a special tool will be needed to secure them to the door shells. any information will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Pretty sure those are installed with upset rivits, probably before the skin is installed.

    Interesting. There must be a way to install the hinges to the doors, though, because I have seen other doors with no hinges, and I have seen hinges for sale without doors. Any ideas?

    I'm sure you could bolt them on. And add a couple mig welds.
